The Doors (AKA the American Rolling Stones back in the day) will be putting out a new Box Set Titled "Erotic Politicians" (a name Morrison used to describe the Doors) in November includind new OUTTAKES and RARITIES. The box will also include a DVD of all their studio Albums remixed in 5.1 surround sound. I have also just read that the Doors web site is putting up 6 new, unreleased concerts for down loading. I believe it's www.thedoors.com.

So, just to be clear NO POLITICS !! thank you....Some of this information comes from the newest ROLLING STONE magazine - issue 999 - May 4th. It has a drawing of a politician on the cover. The Doors have earned their place in rock history with 6 very good studio albums. I'm looking forward to the box-set!

I'm a deep deep Doors fan; but sceptical:
Manzarek is almost as greedy for money as our main man here.

Erotic Politcis is also a title of one of Morrison's poetry releases.
It's a pity they mix the titles up.

they released a few a couple of years as internet only releases - I bought a couple and they were pretty good, but all were from 1970. Hopefully theres some other years covered on these releases?

He may be a pleasant guy, sure thing.
He has made nothing but beautifil portaits of Morrison.

But since 1996-97 they have put out some half dozen
box sets with not too much differences in-between them.

there were some (Aquarius Theater in LA) from '68, too....great, great stuff. Unfortunately, it looks like most of what they are planning to release now are already widely circulating through boot circles.

I thought the Aquarius Theatre stuff was '69 - think it was used for Absolutely Live - but maybe youre correct. Most of the stuff seemed to be from around the same period of a few months..seemed to basically be stuff originally taped for that same live album

oops. right - '69. 2 shows and one rehearsal set - most of it wasn't released on AL, though.

But I'll be damned if not most of it has been used on the other bloomin' boxes.

Love the Doors, but after getting burned on the first box they won't get any more of my money.

I agree that the Box Sets have gotten a bit redundant and since very little ALTERNATIVE VERSION work has come out I wish they'd put out more of that (kind of like Dance 1 and 2 with the Stones). It DOES sound like it's gonna be fresh rarities from the article.

As far as the Live CD's that have been coming out from 69? on the Bright Mountain (is that it?) label. I highly recommend the Detroit show as it's VERY bluesy and, I believe, the longest show they ever performed.

I'm still searching for those 6 down loads that the article talked about. They said 6 free concerts but I couldn't find it on the web site. If it's on iTunes then it ain't free. They're a bit famous for this cause there was big talk about the complete "ISLE OF WIGHT" concert coming out on DVD about a year or more ago and I have yet to see ANYTHING besides the Message of Love footage from that show.
Sometimes, the DOORS are a bit blocked it looks like.....
