"Angie" shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath, sentence, paragraph, anything with "Wild Horses."

If there's any competition with "Wild Horses" for "best ballad," it would be "Moonlight Mile" (probably better, I think) or "Waiting On A Friend" (very underappreciated) or "Memory Motel." Or "Lady Jane."

Jeez, I much prefer "Till The Next Goodbye" to "Angie." Any day of the week...

StonesTod's gay for sure....I have first-hand experience knowledge....not that there's anything wrong with it.

What was I thinking when I posted above?

"Winter" is another ballad that shames "Angie." And on the same album...

Just to show how much I love and respect gay people I'm gonna go for YMCA by the Village People.
If I'd be gay I'd definitely be highly flamboyant and dress quite feminine. Wooa, I fancy the very idea of that project.

Me too. Never understood the love. It's got the exact same melody throughout and a nonexistent chorus.

Winter and Coming Down Again are the other two unbelievable bores that shall forever be overrated by Stones fans.

Winter is totally UNDERRATED even by fans. A brilliant song. A lost and forgotten gem.

WH or Angie? Can't really say. Depends on my mood.

My favourite version of Angie is the MSG one from FF.
I like Jagger's acting on this one.
But my favourite choice will always be Wild Horses, though I prefer the electric version to the acoustic one they do on stage since Licks.
You just can't something more romantic - Let's do some living after we die.

the truly amazing thing is that WH isn't even one of SF's best tracks - Dead Flowers, Moonlight Mile, Brown Sugar all top it.

Wild Horse by a country mile; it's my ALL TIME favorite Stones song, followed by Let It Loose! The version on Stripped is awesome but I've heard it even better live at shows I've been lucky enough to see.

I dont know who James Lynn is or why you would think its me , but Im not james lynn.

anyhoozle,

Ive always considered these songs to be "twins" of each other. I thought it would be interesting to see which one people thought was better. I agree with the view that theyre both really good, but Wild Horses is the better song. I've seen setlists from the 75 or 76 tour or maybe both where they played both songs back to back at shows!

as far as Angie being a "sissy" song, I dotn think thats true at all. Ive known some tough motherf****rs who are into metal and punk rock who think Angie is one of the best stones songs.

Mick can still nail 'Angie' live. He sounds pefect on it and KR guiatr is beautiful.
They played WH at DUKE in NC last year. It too was awesome. Its played sparingly, so it was special.

Mick is not as strong voiced on it as he is on 'Angie'.

Lyrically, WH is the winner.

A tie.

Well, that's the most accurate statement so far here.

At the risk of sounding like a voyeur, I'd pay to see that....

Wild Horses wins because the lyrics are so expressive. I saw it recently at Saitama, and it was very moving; Mick sings it better at 60 than he did when he was younger. It's incredible that the Stones recorded WH and BS at the same session in Muscle Shoals (is that right?) Just at their peak!

Anyway, Angie has a more memorable melody, but it's a little schmaltzy for my taste.

WH is beleivable.........Jagger's sincerity is difficult to beleive in Angie............and both now in retrospect are a bit schmaltzy...........they have written much better ballads

I love both, saw Angie in Buenos Aires and it ruled!
