In the Book Old Gods Almost Dead they say that the stones actual performance on SNL wasnt very good and was only showed once. On the West Coast Broadcast they used the Dress Rehrerssal Tape and thats the one used every time that episode is re ran. But, this is according to that book, and Bill Wyman has disputed things from this book. I'd say most of the stuff in the book is not made up, but some of it could be.

and that "SNL rerun" story is absolute rubbish too

for what its worth i havent read that book in like 5 years or something, I lost it. What is a really good stones book to get?

Well, I watched it "live" on the west coast in '78 and it was not the rehearsal version, I can assure you.

Recording a new album, Spending Millions on preparing for a 2 year tour, banking on Ronnie stays Sober, Charlie does not have any more cancer issues and somehow, convincing sponsers that Keith will in fact survive a tour since he has been on borrowed time since about 1975.

Thats guts. Half the band was almost dead a year and a half ago and last night they just smashed Japan with a great show.

I'd recommend Ian McLgan's "All The Rage". It's not a "Stones" book per se, but tons of Stones stuff in there (as well as Faces, Small Faces, Dylan, etc.). A great read.
