Songs that name-check the Stones

The "Great Line" post mentioned the line about Charlie in John Hiatt's song "Slow Turning."

I was thinking about other songs that referenced the Stones:

"Behind the Wall of Sleep" by The Smithereens talks about a girl in a band who stands "just like Bill Wyman."

David Bowie's "Drive in Saturday": "..when people stared in Jagger's eyes and scored."

Nils Lofgren's "Keith Don't Go" The whole song is about him!

Can anybody think of a song that mentions Brian? Woody? Mick Taylor??

Ballad of a thin man (Dylan) is about Brian.

"...Like Mick Jagger said, I can't get no satisfaction."

Tone Loc, "Wild Thing"

I think that's the legend based on the story that Dylan would taunt Brian about that.

I recall that it actually was about a reporter from Time magazine.

Not Dead Yet by the Bad Examples

What Girls Want..."they want a man with lips just like Mick Jagger, Rod Stewart's hair, and Keith Richard's stagger..." (I forgot who does it but maybe someone from Chicago who listens to XRT will remember)

Saturday Gigs by Mott the Hoople

and one of my favorite songs...I Do The Rock by Tim Curry

There was a song out years ago that was titled "The Beatles and The Stones" but I can't remember who the artist was. Anyone know?

Yeah, around 1991 'The Beatles and the Stones made it good to be alone' (great line). Was it the Farm?

Ballad of a Thin Man is not about Brian. It's 10% possible, but most likely not.
I always thought that "Pool Hall Richard"(Faces) was about Richards, but I might be wrong. I've never paid attention to the lyrics on that one.
Neil Young has a song "Borrowed Tune" with the music of "Lady Jane". In the songs he even mention "....and a song I learned from the Rolling Stones" (or something like that).

Neil sings "I'm singin' this borrowed tune I took from the Rolling Stones, alone in this empty room, to wasted to write my own."

Deep Purple's Smoke On The Water mentions "the rolling truck stones", a reference to the Rolling Stones truck, a mobile recording studio where Deep Purple recorded.

The Supersuckers song called "She's My Bitch" says "She hates the Beatles, and likes the Stones". I'll probably think of others soon enough.

From Nazareth's "Shanghai'd in Shanghai":

Mister we've got a gig in Arizona
Second billing to the Rolling Stones

(followed by a short riff that sounds a lot like Satisfaction)

John Cougar Mellencamp - You've Got To Stand For Somethin' from the Scarecrow album.

April Wine's song "I like to Rock' plays the Day Tripper riff into the Satisfaction riff at the end of the song.

Yes, that's it. I couldn't remember exactly, it's been a long time since I've heard it.

I also remember that Steve Jones mentiones Mick Jagger in the Sex Pistols song "The Great Rock'n Roll Swindle". He also mentions Elton John. It's NOT something nice he's saying about Mick.

No, it was the House of Love. Great band. Remember 'Christine' or 'Shine On'? Actually they reformed and made a new album last year which is supposedly pretty good but I haven't heard it yet.

In terms of songs namechecking Brian, how about Eric Burdon's 'Monterey' with the groovy line "His majesty, Prince Jones, strode among the crowd"

it doesnt name-check them....maybe you're saying its about them?

The Clash's "1977" also mentions the Stones ("no Elvis, Beatles or The Rolling Stones")

About Brian:

Jim Morrison's "ODE TO L.A. WHILE THINKING OF BRIAN JONES, DECEASED".
Also "Tightrope Ride" by the other Doors.

Tin Angel by Joni Mitchell is about him too.

John Mars "Hay Waggon Inn" (1992) He also had a band called "Brian's Children".

Crazy Mary wrote a song "Brian jones" on their album "Knucklehead".

Eric Burden & The Animals "Monterey" mentions "prince Jones".

Master Musicians of jajouka wrote a song called Brahim Jones. "Brahim Jones, Jajouka Rolling Stone...Brahim Jones, Jajouka really stoned".

One of my faves is Sleep Chamber's CD "Sonorous Invokations of Brian Jones volume 1", wonderful tribute.

Pete Townshend said he wrote a song about Brian after he died calling him "the man who died everyday."

Did it ever surface?

not name-checking but rumoured to be about mick:
carly simon "you're so vain".
mick singing backing vocs.
dylan's "like a rolling stone" sounds nice, but
has no rolling stones reference i think.
never thought about "pool hall richard" before
(good song!) but keith is a good billard-player i read.
might be.
