Well, there's still a chance. Now that the two no-talent Beatles have departed, Knopfler could team up with McCartney & Starr in a Cream-style power trio.

Although personally I would prefer to see Sir Paul team up with Sir Mick and Sir Elton in a band called The Knights. Think of the set list:
