NME.COM:-

Hyde Park is proving a popular summer venue

The Who and Roger Waters are to headline a new festival in London's Hyde Park.

'Hyde Park Calling' takes place over the weekend of July 1 and 2, and will feature a number of acts across two stages on both days. So far, it's confirmed that Roger Waters will be supported by Texas, while Razorlight will play on the same day as The Who.

Waters, who memorably rejoined Pink Floyd onstage during Live8 at the same venue last summer, will be performing his old band's legendary 1973 album 'The Dark Side of the Moon' as part of his set. It will be his only British performance of the album in 2006.

Tickets are go onsale at 9am on Friday March 10.

Thanks for the info.

I had really lost interest in the Who, which at one time were my favourite band...but I was impressed enough by their Live 8 slot to give them another go.

It looks like Virgin radio's website is selling tickets from the 9th March.

having seen them at a club gig in London 2 years ago, (a warm-up for their Royal Albert Hall show, post-Entwistle) i can testify that they're still a force to be reckoned with, and shouldn't be quickly dismissed and washed-up.

different festivals (you're referring to the 02 Festival)- different dates - same location.
Foo Fighters are also, headlining a massive gig, at Hyde Park on June 17th.

It would appear to be the venue of choice,
for most of the big-hitters this summer.

OK, I've taken the plunge for the Who - about £50 a ticket.
Won't bother with Roger Waters, though, way too depressing!

Here's the link if you want tickets:

i'm going to hold out a bit for a warm-up gig- it wont sell out at those prices...i don't really want to pay £50 to stand in a park on a sunday night.

I'm with you there, me neither. Did you see them by the way at the Shepherd Bush Empire on 21st/22nd December 1999 ? God what a show that was ? I have the bootleg; it's magnificent.

sadly couldn't get tickets for that one- The kentish Town Forum, a couple of years ago, more than made up for that disappointment, though.
