I was on the fence with "The Sex Pistols"...figured they & "AC/DC" just didn't have that UMPH. Pink Floyd? Really? The Clash...yeah, that is a very solid name...but I'm a big fan of "The X" names...

is a great name too...they're on tour! OOHHHHH....for those who know about old school US punk (yeah, even us young kids know something about music time to time...), The Flesheaters are back together (orig. line-up). The ONLY show I can find is at the Casbah here in San Diego...DO NOT MISS IT!!!! (for those who don't know...we're talking about Dave Alvin, John Doe, DJ Bonebreak, Chris D, Bill Batemen, Steve Berlin & Tex & the Horseheads).

Telepathic Butterflies, great group, don't like the name.

Garaj Mahal, never heard them, but like the name for some reason.

Foghat, like listening to them, but a name from a made up word with Scrabble letters? C'mon.

Big Star, great band, great name, as well as their album #1 Record.

Free Beer and Chicken, probably taken from the John Lee Hooker album title, but a great way to get people to see their shows.

DMZ, love the band and the name, but I can't figure out why.

13th Floor Elevators, cool band, just never really liked the name. I get what they were going for, but it doesn't flow to easily.

Best: Dump Truck ("my" band, any guesses where I nicked the name?)
Worst: The Stinkin' @#$%& (another local band)

doubt it......no disposable income....but i did see the Flesheaters in their early years at the Florentine Gardens in Hollywood.....they opened up for Mr.Sex Pistol Steve Jones' band the Professionals....around '82 or so

Ah but alas...they were missing Alvin/Bonebreak/Batemen/Doe by then...still...I bet it was a great show. I'd have made it...but my mom wouldn't let me (I was 6).

best: The Who, U2, Doobie Brothers, the Grateful Dead,

Worst: Pearl Jam, Beatles, Cream, Prince, Yes...and anything that is unpronouncable or beginning with an x.

Pearl Jam is DEF one of the all time worst band names.

LOGIE...does that really include the band X? I always thought that was a great punk band name. It's like a PC way of just having the middle finger as a band name (and w/o the symbol weirdness that prince had)

Pete...you just named 3 bands I'm seeing at the Casbah here in San Diego (Nashville Pussy, Supersuckers & Hellacpoters). Screeching Weasel...very fun band...good modern punk. Got introduced to them on a now almost impossible to find single of "I wanna be a homosexual"...more raw & different lyrics than the album version.

They're all playing on the same night???!!! DAMN!!!!! Ask Ruyter if she got the flea med for her and Blaine's cats that I sent them!!

No no...three different nights...but still...same tiny venue.

I'm envious! Seen NP and Eddie & the boys numerous times but haven't caught Nicke and the copters yet! Would love to see them! Have seen the Backyard Babies, which I love also.

The Dragons (www.thedragons.com) toured with the Hellacopters. I would encourage every Stones fan to buy all The Dragons CDs...and they have one, if not THE best rock n' roll t-shirt ever.
