yeah well why dont you watch the RS.COM DVD, and watch the keith interview
he says mick makes the set list and he adds his songs on ok
so if thats not good enough for you than too bad, just watch the dvd chuck lover

I agree. I hate Chuck's smile and his "thumbs up" ala Macca. BUT, I think that he is the musical director, no? In other words, he coordinates all of the charts for the band, the horns and backup vocalists. That's a huge task.

I also read Mick talking about how Chuck pushed him to do Loving Cup, so I think that there is influence on the setlist.

I still think that he should have a real piano up there as well.

In the prelim to the MSG concert on HBO, Mick said he does the setlist. In that same prelim, Keith said he doesn't know the 1st song until just before he walks on stage. Seems a little hard to believe but that's what he said.

well, "chuck hater" (don't why you chose to get personal about this - so I'll give you a mock personal response) - it's doubtful that KR even knows where the setlist originates. And, you can't simply go off of what he says anyway when there is contradictory reports from more credible people like Mick and Chuck. If you go by KR commentary, Muddy Waters was the Chess Building painter in addition to being a seminal bluesman....

now your grasping at straws buddy, keith knows who does the set, and he said mick
watch the dvd twice if you have to, i know its tuff for you to admit your wrong

anyway my point of this post was that chuck should not come out and take a bow
and i still feel that way so goodbye to this topic

Let him take his bow. The Stones don't mind so why should you?. The guy is talented and is responsible for mixing up the set list and encouraging them to perform different songs.

pretty much everybody else comes out centre stage when introduced

Funny no one complains when Lisa Fischer does it.

Is it because she has great pins and no (visible) beard?

Re: chuck?

true but you can tell lisa is doing it out of gratitude towards the stones
not because she thinks she is a stone

I agree. Chuck has played with The Allman bros. probably the greatest improv band on earth. If the boys didn't like him or think he was good emough or resposible, he wouldn't be there. Bottom line.

thats not the point of the post, the point is he should not come out and take a bow at center stage, bobby doesnt do it, for gods sake charlie doesnt even do it
so why should chuck, charlie only does it very very rare, they almost have to shove him out there

melillo - it's quite clear why he comes out to bow at center stage:

TO PISS YOU OFF!

...and it seems to working like a charm!

that right it does piss me off i made that clear in the original post,
its great the way you guys pat yourselves on the back when you lose an argument
btw t&a did you watch the dvd yet when keith says MICK MAKES THE SET LIST,
I GUESS NOT

Re: chuck?

melillo-It's funny, I was at the show Monday night & wondered the very same thing when he came running out to the front of the stage. As for the set lists, I've seen several interviews where Mick and/or Keith says Mick does the set list yet I must say, I've read some of Chuck's diary entries & he clearly says (actually it's more like boasts) that he makes the set lists & in some cases even gives his reasons for them. Maybe Mick turned over the set lists duties to him on this tour?

Re: chuck?

ok maybe he does suggest set lists, but all iam trying to tell the others is that
on the rs.com dvd keith clearly says mick makes the set list, i just dont think chuck has the final say thats all, why would he

Re: chuck?

Chuck makes the setlist - T&A is 100% correct on that one. I'm usually in disagreement with T&A posts - but he's right on the money this time. Sorry, Melillo - you lose the argument this time. Better luck next time!

Re: chuck?

No he hasnt the final say. Glimmers have;
but they - as we have repeatedly reminded ourselves about
on this board - dont seem to care too much.

Melillo- I first saw the Stones in 1975 with Billy Preston on piano. You were still wearing diapers and breast feeding. Oh! I'm sorry, you're still wearing diapers and breast feeding. That explains your temperment regarding a guy taking a bow center stage.

It's past your bed time. Goodnight Melillo.

P.S. I love the Stones. If it were not for Keith, I would have never picked up a guitar 34 years ago and learned to play. Keith was my inspiration. Goodnight again Melillo.
