WOOD FALLS OFF WAGON

ROLLING STONES guitarist RONNIE WOOD has lost his battle with sobriety, enjoying a three-day drinking marathon with snooker player pal JIMMY WHITE.

White confesses the pair drank 98 pints of Guinness between them during the binge - despite Wood being warned by doctors last year (05) his alcohol habit could kill him.

The pair's party took place at a custom made pub inside the guitarist's $9 million (GBP5 million) mansion in County Kildare, Ireland.

White says, "It was wonderful. I hadn't seen him in absolutely ages because he's been on tour with the Stones.

"Ronnie had a barrel of Guinness and we drank 98 pints between us in three days.

"The only trouble is that he got me watching snooker all week."

According to Contactmusic.com this happened during the Christmas break

Been Stoned since 1964 and still am!

It's got to be hard to stop drinking when you have a pub INSIDE YOUR HOUSE. Sometimes they only thing that stops me from going to the pub is that it is two blocks away. If it was in my kitchen I'd be @#$%&.

Quite some pal, that whirlwind. He should know and care about Ronnies health.

got this from the good folks over @ Sticky Fingers Journal

WOOD LOSING BATTLE AGAINST BOTTLE

Rolling Stones star RONNIE WOOD could slip back into alcoholism despite
hopes his recent

stint in rehab had stamped out his addiction.

The rocker shocked fans at a Las Vegas show two months ago (NOV05) when he
collapsed on

stage, and is finding sobriety a "constant battle".

His son and manager JAMIE says, "It's very hard, it's a constant battle
every day.

"You have to remember that in America my dad can't go outside because of
the fans, so what

do you do stuck in a room all day?

"The demons are still there. He still needs therapy and he might be prone
to slip, that's

what alcoholics do.

"If I said he'll never drink again, I'd probably be lying."

I really hope this is not true. He seems to have been battling the demons with some success (though what do I know) but it can't be easy - especially with "friends" like that. I never saw him smoking on stage in September - has he started doing that again at all?

Big stick, small balls, grown men in suits playing with both. Go figure.

I have know many people who are recovering alcoholics and I know many people who drink a lot. Once someone says that they are an alcoholic, everyones's perception of them will change. Those who drink and drink and drink and merely consider themselves "heavy drinkers" never seem to face the same obstacles and criticism as the "alcoholics". Maybe Ronnie drinks because that is part of his being and his lifestyle. 12 steps only work if you want them to and alcoholics only stop drinking if they really want to. I think that Ronnie probably feels more at home in the non sober world rather than in the sober world. I seem to recall posts here about his sloppy playing on various stops on the tour. He was supposedly sober, right ? Maybe he plays better after a few, after all, that has been Ronnie since the beginning of his career. The Faces, according to some sources, were always intoxicated, yet never played a bad show. That may be because eveyone else was too intoxicated to notice. I think that Ronnie (along with Keith) are part of those "special" breed of people who will drink until they can drink no more and will do it to the very end. My granfather drank until the ripe old age of 95 and was never ill until the last week of his life. Some people just function on a different plain. I don't really know the details of Ronnie's "addiction" and how much trouble it caused him, but if Ronnie feels better when he drinks, then, dammit, more power to him.
