It's amazing how many of the bands I grew up listening to no longer have any living members.

Fun Fact: Badfinger's 1973 album Ass was the last record released on Apple Records by anyone other than a former Beatle.

Ouch. That hurts. At a latter day Badfinger show at the Wax Museum in DC some time in the early 90's, Joey came over to the table where I was sitting with the late Stone-relics (John Rutherford) and chatted. A nice guy and very talented.

RIP. It really hurts to see these classic bands gone forever.

I understand why it happens, but some really good songs go unnoticed by legacy musicians just because they didn't come out during their heyday. IMO like Let Me Down Slow with the Stones on A Bigger Bang. But this was an excellent Joey Molland song from latter years. Why would anyone know it, but this should be a hit in any time, personally:

That is sad. I've always liked Badfinger. RIP Joey!

All of the Badfinger Apple albums were really good, even going back to when they were the Iveys.

Rest in peace, Joey Molland.

One day, I shall have to get around to listening to Badfinger. I only really know of them through their Beatles association. In fact, I'm not overly familiar with their biggest hit, Come and Get It. I love McCartney's demo, featured on Anthology 3.

A Molland track from "Ass", Badfinger's last Apple release.

IMO No Dice and Straight Up are two front to back excellent albums. They won't stand up with like Sticky Fingers or something, but not really a bad song in the bunch. There's some good stuff on the others (Ass, Badfinger, Wish You Were Here), but those two are the peak excellent ones that I'd recommend to anyone that just likes great power pop. From those two albums you could make an album of JUST the Pete Ham songs and it makes, again IMO, one of the greatest albums of all time. They were all great, but Pete was the heart and soul and just a true underappreciated talent in his time.

RIP Joey. I didn't realize what a tragic story the whole Badfinger saga was.

Pete Ham was the the central figure in the band but Joey and bassist Tommy Evans came up with some really good stuff.

I remember my Uncle brought home No Dice in 1971, I was 8 years old. I still love the record as much now as I did then. Too bad they got derailed and fell apart, not to mention the mortality issues. They should of could of been something more. R.I.P. all of them.

Don't forget Magic Christain Music, had some great songs as well.

Kind of a mish-mash of songs from their only album when they were The Iveys, songs from a movie soundtrack they did (the movie being the title of the album), and new tracks.

McCartney asked the band to write a song that "sounded like Simon and Garfunkel" for the Magic Christian soundtrack. They wrote and recorded this with Paul producing and strings arranged by George Martin. Miming it here.
