Someone filmed the Waldbühne 2022 gig with a 360-camera, I saw that on YouTube. Professionally recording the show is probably not worth it for big acts now - there are simply not enough people with VR headsets. And the quality of consumer-grade camereas is still too low for amateur recordings of this kind to pop up.

Not sure about the Rollings Stones, but later in 2024, Apple plans to introduce a new immersive performance from The Weeknd for the Vision Pro headset - [www.Apple.com] .

No VR-concert - but some "Norwegian VR": Apple has rolled out a new environment for their Vision Pro headset. It depicts Lake Vrangla - which is located just 22 km (13 miles) west from BV's home near Oslo.

'Open Hearts' - an 180° immersive music experience with Spatial Audio from The Weeknd for the Apple Vision Pro headset - beginning 15-Nov-2024:

Those who don't own a Vision Pro will still be able to watch the experience by requesting a free demo of the headset at Apple Stores where it is available.

With the astronomical amount tickets to concerts are now, this was bound to happen. I guess a bit like watching Netflix instead of going to a movie.

It will be interesting to see how "touring" evolves.

What the hell is all this about?

Based on the subject I thought you wanted to discuss Velvet Revolver concerts?

McCartney's team put some VR videos on YT a few years ago.

Oh and I filmed 20+ minutes of HP 2013 in 3D, sadly removed from YT. Already shared here if anyone's interested.

Jean-Michel Jarre did also 3 VR-concerts in 2020-2022 and a Mixed Reality concert end of 2023 - but the graphics of those VR-concerts looked more like an early 1990s computer game.

On the other hand, the picture quality of the Apple Vision Pro is stunning due to 4K-resolution for each eye. There's also sound in Spatial Audio.

I personally don't really enjoy VR or AR but I'm sure there are some who do, so I'll be surprised if we don't see some kind of release like that eventually featuring Stones music

better then the idea of them as holograms

i would rather future generations learn about the band from archive recordings of actual performances translated to vr headsets not approximations of performances featuring ai generated photon zombie mick

on a side not what is ar?

well of course when would you have time to watch live performances on a vr headset when you have hundreds of live concerts to watch in person every yearwinking smiley

Personally I would like to see a hologram of Robert Johnson singing and playing if it were possible. That's what I base my opinion on with virtual reality.

AR is augmented reality. I go back to Covid times and found the webstreams were depressing and hard to watch. For me I need to be at the show in a prime seat to "get off". To each his own but for me its either be there or I am doing something different. I also listen to lots of music at home but rarely watch much.

But the archive recordings are in flat 2D which doesn't look good on a VR headset.

Surely that would be something modern technology would be able to 'fix'? I mean mivies can be converted to 3D.

I mean movies can be converted to 3D.

But how? Where do you get the missing depth information from? Real 3D, not like a pop-up book.

thank you for explaining that

i'm sure if able to most of us would rather see a live show in person too

that was my thoughts on the matter too

especially with whatever technology they'll have in 10 or 20 years

that does however beg the question about how much of the visual aspect of the performance is actually a real recorded performance of the band and what is generated by said technology to pad out the experience and make it look good

for me as long as they took something like some girls live and texas and restricted the use of generated stuff to the audience and used only whats on film to depicted the band and there performance i could accept that

but i'd probably still prefer a really big tv and a good sound system
