Show Timing - an observation

Hi all, recently I've been uploading both mine and Falo's (MfG) shows to my youtube channel and have added chapters.

What I've noticed is that the song timings are almost identical in length and the show is almost paced and tracked to the minute

It's fascinating ......as an example, Tumbling Dice starts within 30 seconds on each show (from the start)compared to the other shows

Yes.

And...?

It's been that way since 1989. It hasn't been the 1970s, Stones wise, for 46 years.

I now recall on the Hyde Park concert video seeing a countdown clock behind Charlie’s drum riser.
I always thought they went out and played the set and that’s it…. If Keith wants a long solo he’ll just take it. It appears to be more “programmed” than that.
It’s not a criticism, just an observation

Most of the bands at the Stones level are kinda clocking it in to the T. Thats fine, it happened a lot in the 70s too, just felt a little different. I guess you don't have to be that way (Bruce didn't used to be), but it does seem its more the norm of bands at this level than the exception. At 80 though, I hardly blame them.

I remember I saw their setlist for the sound crew and went gobsmacked to realize the songs were given the playing time on minute-and-second basis after each title. I think it was late 90s or early 2000s.

Perhaps to keep things in sync with the lightshow & stuff?

The days when the band would wait for Keith to turn round and signal the end of the song are long gone...
