I love the drumming, especially on the fadeout, very majestic.

I always assumed it was Charlie, couldit have been Jimmy Miller at that point intime?

That raw version shows that the song probably would be great live. Why have they overlooked it?

One of their best singles, considering both sides, and that both sides are non-album cuts. Dandelion's lyrics are a bit too much flowery-trippy and too innocent-sounding for the Stones (even in their psychedelic phase). But the song is very lovely and has a nice arrangement. The oboe (cor anglais?) solo gives the tune a specific "color" or signature. A bit like the alto flute solo on California Dreaming (Mamas & Papas): I can't recall that song without a strong audio image of that solo and its melancholy.
Yeah, nice fade-out too with the drumming!
We Love You brings back the cynicism, as well as acid-drenched mellotron, saturated drone-guitar and "tribal" riffing and exclamations.

Thank ya Rockmnan for pic.
D = one of Stones best stongs, ever.
Wish they would lift it up where it belongs: to the setlist.

I there an official stereo version of the studio cut? LONDON YEARS has it only in mono (but the, We love you is also in mono on the album).

I really like this as well as the other pop stuff from that time (Ruby, She's A Rainbow, etc.). Very much flower power. Shortly after this KR got inot the open tunings and this era was a thing of the past.

Sorry to be so uninformed but can you explain "open tunings"

Re: DAndelion

Here's an answer for myself:

In guitar playing, an open tuning is one where the strings are tuned so that a chord is achieved without fretting, or pressing any of the strings; using such a tuning other chords may be played by simply barreing a fret, or through the use of a slide.

Open tunings are common in blues music and some rock and folk music.

In Hawai`ian Music, for Slack-key guitar, an example would be the taro patch, or open 'G' tuning, with strings low-high; D-G-D-G-B-D.

Notable players who make extensive or exclusive use of open tunings include Richard Thompson, Martin Carthy, Blind Blake, Jimmy Page, Keith Richards, Leo Kottke, Richie Havens, Joni Mitchell and Ted Hawkins.

Sicilian,

In Keith's case, he usually removes the low D-string so that the G (or root note) is on the lowest string.

Woody used open-E a lot with the Faces. Most slide is played in open tuning.

what solo? I don't recall one.

Great song. Nice name, too. I don't see why she'd change it. She must be work in a real corporate environment or something.

I remember hearing that she was involved in raising horses or something, but I might be wrong.

Oh... well I guess the horses don't appreciate any hippie trappings.

Note the strikin' resemblance with Daddy Keef as in his mid- & late-20s!

Really? I must have missed this interview. I've never, ever, ever, ever
heard Keith mention Tara in an interview, nor being asked a question on the topic.
Mind you, most interviewers are told beforehand not to ask certain questions and
I always assumed that was one. I do remember Eric Clapton talking about the death
of his son and saying one of the first people he heard from was Keith.
What always astonished me was why the tour of Europe wasn't cancelled after that happened.

with sssoul, thank you again for posting this song. I can't stop listening to it. I just played this and the old version of Cracking Up that you posted about 10 times in a row.

Had you not posted the year, I would have thought that was Anita's shirt!

I've never seen that photo before either. He's so awesome.

Thanks!

Here's an early version, with Keith singing, called "Sometimes Happy Sometimes Blue". Sounds like its just Keith and Charlie...? Lovely....

Hey Culpa,

That's the one! Great song.

I think BV wants all these posted under "Hot Stuff" section rather than this one.
Why don't you put it up there in case he deletes it here?

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

Sorry - I thought it was okay since someone specifically asked for it! I'll post at "Hot Stuff" also!

Hey Culpa - BV just asked us to do that within the past few days. Thanks for posting in there too. I'll have to get in the habit to check that page more often.

Dandilion was release as B-side of "We Love You" single in Germany in 1967. Then it apreared on "Through The Past Darkly" and later on "More Hot Rocks". It's the Stones' attempt to cover a Flower Power issue in these hippie days. They wouldn't have record it a year later but these were the days.

Keith's daughter Dandilion was born 17 April 1972, having a harelip. She grew up with Keith's mother Doris most the time because Anita ad Keith weren't really able to care after the baby. She later was renamed Angela. Me personally, never saw any photo of her.

CindyC very kindly posted a photo of the Richards tribe just recently:
[iorr.org]

Angela (ex Dandelion) is the dark-haired woman on the left, next to Theo.
and it wasn't so much that she renamed herself: her original name was Dandelion Angela,
and she was apparently called Angie most of the time right from the start.

that is ADORABLE! They are all wearing pink, I wonder where they were going. Doris is dressed for a wedding.

I love the way Angela is looking at Keith. Most of the pictures I see of her, she is just looking at him mesmerized. She's definitely a daddy's girl.

In this picture, her bone structure is very much like Anita's.
