I am writing a book focussing on the lyrics of The Rolling Stones.
Does anybody have the lyrics to the ten 23 minute version of Some Girls?

There's no 10 mins version listed on [www.dbboots.com] . Longest studio version there is 06:34.

Some Girls, the title track, was 23 minutes long originally.
It was so long it took up a whole reel of tape!
It just went on and on and on, and if you watch the master
go by after I'd edited it down you can't see any black tape.
You just see all my editing tape (laughs).

- Chris Kimsey, 1978

Oh yeah, that's the version I was thinking of. 23 minutes, not just ten minutes...

Did Kimsey say anything about lyrics to that version?

Here's a mention of the 23 mins recording - "The Rolling Stones 'Some Girls' Thread" - [Forums.SteveHoffman.tv] .

Likely there were no lyrics at the 23 minute version. They used to just jam on an idea for an extended period then edit out the bad parts and marry the good parts together into a base track and then either work from it or over it.

When I see these recently appeared videos from the Steel Wheels and Voodoo Lounge sessions, I think every song could be made into a 23 minute or even longer version... grinning smiley I would not take such a statement too seriously...
