Info wanted for Brno concert in Czech Republic

Can anybody give me more information about this venue please?

The Stones play at "Vystaviste (Exhibition Ground)" in Brno - Czech Republic.

Is it really only a 20.000 seat venue?
I can hardly imagine that, because the crowds in the past were much larger than this in Prague. Or is it because of the high ticket prices that they play in a smaller venue?

Hi Mack - I can't imagine the tickets will be much cheaper than two years ago. I was pleasantly surprised at the prices for the show in Warsaw, Poland.

I've been trying to find info. on all of the Eastern European venues (Warsaw, Brno, Belgrade and Zagreb) and have not had much luck. At leaset www.ticketpro.pl has the Stones advertised on their page.

I saw the Stones in 2003 in Prague - great show and great crowd.

A guy from my office who lives in Brno told me that the Exhibition Ground leaves room for 50,000 people - at least they will put 50,000 tix in sale, starting on Dec.12.

The 20,000 seat-venue is a bycicle-stadium which is placed on the Exhibition Ground - but the concert will be held outside and NOT in the stadium.

I cant fly to Vienna direct from here, but I can fly to Prague VERY cheap. I'm trying to limit myself to places where I can fly to non-stop. Thats why I was hoping for a Prague show. sad smiley

Drove between these citites in 1984. Without any glance at all on the map,
I´d say its some 300-350 km, plus or minus 50 in either direction.
Maximum four hours drive or approx. 4-5 hours (iwc 6-7?) by bus
or slt. with train.

Nice town, Brno. I´m sure it´s more colourful now than it was back in 84.

If I were you, Gary; I´d squeeze in a couple of day in Budapest
and the wine districts of Eger too. Hungary rocks! I still cant
imagine a European tour without a Magyar gig!!! Shame!!

Thanks for the information everybody. So not the 20.000 seat venue. But at least the ticket prices are cheaper.

Gazza here's a map. (sorry for the big size!)

Oh, a shame I don't know the distance exactly actuallysmiling smiley, but it's only something over 200 km, really. By car, between 2 and 3 hours, if everything goes well. By train between 3 and 4.
We solved this problem on shidoobe recently, my friend SweetLittleSixteen posted a map there as well, you can check it out.

It is 2-3 hours away from Prague. Ryanair is flying there. And it is a 50,000 capacity venue now. High speed trains from Prague as well.

I am getting plenty of info about this and many other sites in Europe now, but I have too much work to do in my backlog so it takes time to get all this out. Like all hotel rooms in Bergen Noway are now sold out. A bit like Moncton. And so on.

it's exactly 205 km between the both cities, a long road for a walk ;-)

no more huge jokes, I swear - you can sit on my shoulders anytime !!

a shame that there's no flight to Vienna - we're thinking about a trip St.Petersburg - Brno - Poland ... feel free to take a vacation and join - we could collect you in Prague on the way to Petersburg - nobody will care for the few extra km !

205 km. No sideways. Sorry for pushing it farther.
And it may be a quicker ride now than 21 years ago.

Brno's a great city....was there in 2004 for the MotoGp motorbikes.
Friendly people, cheap Ryanair flight from London, and cheap beer.

For everyone who wants to go there from Vienna, the train connection is excellent, only 1.30 hours and the ticket prices are obviously far lower than in Austria! Brno itself it definitley not worth seeing, though!

Smith, are you from Vienna?
