JAGGER: " He can do this as long as he wants to".

According to the review by Joel Selvin in today's San Francisco Chronicle, Mick's performance last night at the SBC Park was " fiercely focused", and " galvanizing,& electrifying ". Ending with " Jagger can do this as long as he wants to", it seems that finally somebody really gets the power of Mick and the Stones! OH, I know we all get it! I meant a reviewer finally nails it! I've read reviews from just about every show and although most have been accurate, even rave reviews, Selvin captured the essence of the Stones with Mick at the helm! He went on to say, " Metallica, the opening act, only made the headliners appear more Olympian!". WOW! Now that's a compliment! I wonder if this was Selvin's first Stones show; it seemed to me like the review was written from a " virginal" perspective but if's that's the case it's fine with me! It made the review even more enjoyable because the joy that he experienced came right off of the page!

Joel Selvin lost his musical virginity decades ago. He has been deep into the Bay Area music scene for a very long time and has written countless reviews, most of which are right on the money. I think that he has just released his "MOUNTAINTOP" work - this deadly beautiful and eloquent insight based on last night's show in San Francisco which really hits the nail right on the head.

A couple of points (3 really):

1. The sky is blue.

2. The sun rises in the East.

3. The Rolling Stones are the best live band ever.

this is exactly how i felt after the garden show on sept 13th,the were stunning, not a band in the land can touch them when there on,they lost there focus a bit in phillie 10/10,but thats not a common thing.the stones have only 1 competitor and thats themselves.

I'm a longtime Stones fan who has seen them over 15 times...and Jagger was brilliant last night in S.F.

He has not lost a step, and keeps pushing his performances to greater and greater heights.

It pains me to say it, however, but Ronnie is going in the opposite direction. His contribution to the band is fading rapidly.

The band always puts on a great show; I did feel that there were a few too many ragged endings and miscues in their performance last night. But who can criticize them after all that they have accomplished.

This is my 3rd show of the tour and Jagger was mesmerizing. Probably the best I have seen him on a great night of rock n'roll with a super set list.

I thought Ronnie was OK last night. The crowd wants to see the Stones and not some hired guns like McCartney has working for him. Think about it this way: if John Lennon was still alive and his guitar playing and vocals were at 50% of what they were from the old days I would still rather see him and Paul rather than Paul and some hotshot guys in their 30s supporting him.

Jagger is arguably at the best of his game. In ten years he might tour like Macca with some hotshot GQ types standing in for Keith and Ronnie and we will all be wishing for the old days like this tour.

Enjoy it while it last.

Yes. It's amamazing how Jagger keeps it up. The Stones have such energy on stage. You forget all about the fact that they may have been your grandparents. They play sloppy. You hear it on the boots. But when you're in the stadium, you also don't notice. You come back, hear the bootleg and go "was it really that bad"? They have some of that on their records. But to see why they're the greatest rock 'n' roll band in the world you have to expierience the Stones on a live show in a crowd.

I am a huge Keith fan. Over the course of the band's lifetime, Keith has contributed as much or more than Jagger. That having been said, at this point it is Jagger's band. Keith is not willing or able to contibute like he once did. Jagger is carrying the band at this point, both on the latest album and on stage. I'd rather see it be 50/50 with Keith, but I'm just glad Jagger is still up to it because without him there would now be no Stones, period.
