Out of Control on this just cooks! The sound is fantastic and the crowd singing just makes it. I love putting this on in my car. In fact i love live albums in the car. Just takes you right to the concert atmosphere.

This is one of the best releases by the band in years I reckon. Anyone else think this version is a Classic? I think they will be blasting this on the radio in 30 years still. It is mean. The end rocks out!

Great song, but some passages were cut out on the "No Security" version. I remember that it was about two or three minutes longer on this tour. Heard it four or five times during this tour in the Netherlands and Germany.

It always seemed to me that the "No Security" version was lacking in either trumpet parts or, worse, in Jagger's harp playing. A pity, because at the thirteen shows I attended during the tour, people who didn't even know the song were asking "what the hell was THAT?!"

Does anyone know if the "Don Was Live Re-Mix" on the single offered a more complete recording of the song?

Interesting point, don't know that there is a remix of Don Was of the live take. Hope that it isn't a f** overdub disco bum bum bum bum remix ...

The cage was only used twice to my knowledge - the first two shows of the NS tour, which came well after the '98 recording that was used for the NS album.

it is an amazing recording,one of the best if not the best version of any live song ever.

I love the St. Louis '97 version

I love blasting the No Security in my car. Even first time stones listeners think the songs rocks. The harmonica just blasting loud in the car freaking gives me chills everytime. Just takes a while to get into it but thats kinda the point. Hail to the Stones!!! Tom

Great song. They should drop one of the warhorses for this one. Other than a few of the songs on ABB, this is the strongest song tune they have put out since 1981. Beats the hell out of You Got Me Rocking which has been played to death in concert. It's a good song, but most people are sick of it now so give it a rest!

Yeah it is such a good song. Glad others agree with me! I think it could be a great song early in the set. Maybe even an opener? I mean sure not everyone has heard it, but it is just rockin! Don't think it is as good at the end of the set. I love this version of the song. I don't even like the B2B song. Is it the same song? I mean it is just not there.

Speaking of No Security, I love the sound on it, but I think it is not a very good song selection on the album. Whereas Live licks has more songs I like. How does the sound compare? I have not heard it yet. Is it of a simular mix? I have watched Fourty licks thru a stereo and too me the sound is not as good as the No security or Stripped albums. I love these albums! Fourty licks has tooo much brass and piano. Is live licks mixed better?

I agree it's a great song, although a shorter live version without the extended guitar solo near the end would have been better. I can't pinpoint why, but when I saw it live three times in 1997 I thought it really cooked. When I saw it live twice in 1999 I thought it was less impressive. When I saw it live twice in 2005 it was less impressive still. It was a clear highlight of the Bridges tour; on the No Security tour it struck me as a time filler after the Keith set. In 2005 (Hartford and Durham) the song seemed strangely out of place to me, like "why did they pick this one"?

Well, the version on No Security is fantastic indeed, but the Don Was Live Remix is even better IMO. They mixed the audience screaming out, so you only hear the band playing the song live, it's really great!

the whole point of No Security was to release an album filled with songs that hadnt been on any other live records in the last couple of decades

....Yeah i did realise that Gazza. I like the sound of No security. I would love to hear other stuff recorded that well. Midnight rambler, SFTD. I love the B2B Satisfaction (St Louis) too. Is there a Bootleg of No Security/B2B outakes that did not make the album? I know they recorded everything from B2B tour and just choose mainly rarites. All these other recordings must out there. In circulation?

I read that from 1989 onwards they have recorded all shows with both picture and sound. Some guy in Belgium has all of them. He's holding onto them for the Stones. Now that's a place I'd like to rob.

well - yes and no.

There isnt specifically a circulating recording of songs that were shortlisted, edited,overdubbed, mixed etc and then left off the album

However, some of the shows used for that album were broadcast on TV (St Louis, MTV's "10 Spot") so they'd exist in that form

I personally think they had a good idea long in advance what songs were going to be on it, because when I was in Paris for the show there (25th July 1998) I was told at the time that Keith had spent most of that week (they had 4 days off following the previous show in Spain) in the studio working on overdubs, mixes and edits on songs for the upcoming live album - and that the recordings he was working on were taken from shows in St Louis, Nuremburg, Amsterdam, the 10 Spot show etc. So even at that stage it seemed they would have shortlisted what songs they were going to use.

The cage was in use during the 3rd show of NS in Denver, however it was probably eliminated shortly thereafter as it was not present during the 2nd Anaheim show, the 7th of the NS tour.

I think Denver was the last show where they used the cage

I was just going to post the same thing until I read yours. I recorded it Live off the radio that night the sound and the whole version is the best I have heard. Definitely much better than the No Security version.
