i've been tring to find a original mono copy of this in good condition at a low price for years and have kind of given up on that so i was gonna buy a reissue but looking on discogs there seems to be quite a few different versions and i don't know what the best one to grab would be if someone could give me a hint i'd appreciate it

oh and i'd prefer one without bonus tracks if possible thanks

been reissued many many times .... saw it recently
on purple or was it mauve ??? vinyl .....

honestly cant tell ya which reissue sounds the best .....

Get yaself Bearfamily's Memphis Days Vol 1 & 2 .....
Sam Phillips 50's raw recordings ...... they'll slay ya

i also have smokestack lightning the complete chess masters 1951-1960 and a ton of other ones
but just out of curiosity if you remember or can pull it out and play it what does your copy from the 60's sound like because my copy of it on cd is like from the 80's or something and has a pretty bad fake stereo sound which is why i've been looking for a original mono copy of it
i do have a couple of the original 45's the songs came off of

.... Heck .... see if I can find ..

both those threads are the same so if you have another I would like to read it.

Seems point of the first one is a vinyl release on MOV label is fake stereo and while one guy says it sounded good, no one else appears to agree.

And the japanese mono cd sucks worse.

And most if not all cd releases have had fake stereo done to them.

Is this stereo some really fake heavy effect like instruments panning left to right? Or is it pretty subtle? I take it the songs are from 7" vinyl masters cleaned up...or are they from actual tapes?

well i know there are good sounding mono (and
real stereo) versions of some of these at least because some of them are on the chess masters collection i mentioned above

be nice to have a mix of real steteo & mono
like on the real folk blues but just mono be awesome to

has anyone got the dolchess one i just noticed they released it too
i have moanin' in the moonlight, the real folk blues, & more real folk blues from them but never found this album from dolchess think i might try to get it seeing as the other howlin wolf albums i have from them sound very nice with no fake stereo
