Horrible timing... the '81 tour turned out pretty good too
He's generally a terrible actor which would have reflected badly on the movie.
For the sake of the movie's "classic" status, it's a good thing he quit.

Mick Jagger is an extra in his own 2001 'Enigma' movie.
There's a scene where he's dresses in RAF uniform at a table taking tea and the camera pans past him.
(Plus he's a lead in a 1983 (children's) movie called 'The Nightingale' where he's a Chinese Emperor.) [www.youtube.com]
That latter has to be one of the least likely films for for someone like Jagger to appear in! To this day I wonder what was behind that....
