TONIGHT WAS THE LAST SHOW WITH THE STONES. I THINK WE WERE BETTER TONIGHT HERE IN PORTLAND THAN SEATTLE. IT JUST FELT LIKE ALL THE CYLINDERS WERE FIRING. BACKSTAGE WE WERE ALL HANGING OUT AND JAGGER TOLD ME THAT HE AND CHARLIE WATCHED THE WHOLE SHOW. HE TOLD ME NO SUPPORT BAND HAS EVER GOTTEN THERE CROWD UP ON THERE FEET THE WAY WE DID. LOOKS LIKE WE WILL BE SUPPORTING THEM FOR SOME MORE SHOWS IN EUROPE NEXT YEAR.TOO ME,BEING WITH LEGENDS WHO ARE THE SALT OF THE EARTH SHOWS ME THE PATH TO HUMILITY.

Well, actually he didn't say he likes them. Only the way they work audience...

By the way: what does he try to say by this:

"TO(O) ME,BEING WITH LEGENDS WHO ARE THE SALT OF THE EARTH SHOWS ME THE PATH TO HUMILITY."

Path to humility?

Stones fans don't want The Crüe to be liked by The Stones. It just doesn't fit into their short minded Stones frame.

COOL! looks like the Crue might support the Stones on a few european dates. SWEET, I hope the tigertailz rumour wasn't a piss take, 'cus it looks like the Supports are gonna rule. now all we need is a few Acca Dacca support slots and i'll be happy.

Interesting claim.

Anyway, what does it matter what the The Rolling Stones themselves like? I suppose we Rolling Stones fans do like much more the music of THE STONES than for example Mick Jagger (and not to mention Charlie Watts). I think Jagger hasn't even liked rock music since early seventies. When he once declared that he is "bored with rock and roll" I think he really meant that. He just happens to be quite good in doing that - and makes his living out of it. I think he personally rates, for example, the music of Michael Jackson in the 80's over most of the music of The Stones did at that time.

I think you're right. I really think that Jagger and esp. Charlie are enormous bored by the Stones music.

"I really think that Jagger and esp. Charlie are enormous bored by the Stones music."

Not perhaps playing it, but listening to it. It is really difficult for me to imagine Charlie to pick up a bootleg from the early seventies show, and listen to it and think "jeez, isn't that great music; just the way the guitarists do that middle part of "Midnight Rambler", and that slide on "All Down The Line" and that drummer, I think he's dynamite..." Instead, I suppose Charlie might prefer listening his thousands of jazz records..

But I also suppose that the case is VERY different with Keith and Ronnie; they might even listen a tape from the old days and think "Jeez, goddamn brilliant music". And "they are all my babies" Keith would proudly add. Ronnie Wood might be the biggest (and luckiest) fan of the Rolling Stones music ever. Jagger is very difficult to put in that picture, or to describe his relation to HIS own music. Many times the biggest critics are the artists themselves. His own solo records are perhaps an example of the kind of music he likes (and here are many people in this forum that does not like that!).

Anyway, peace Aucoin, we ain't really arguing here! Take care and dig both The Stones and Mötley Crue!

Fun, pure and simple.
Lighten up, enjoy the ride.

Nikki has gone WAY up in my book simply for the fact that he runs an updated Website.

Good for him.

Funny
I've seen nothing but great reviews of the Stones by the Crue fans
Nobody has has beening saying "The Stones are not worthy" on Crue boards.
i'm sure Mick did have a great time with them. Maybe he was out there to see some titties! i sure he saw at least 5. I have seen none so far on the Bigger Bang Tour.

Europe 2006 : I'd rather have Motley Crue as opener than Bon Jovi, The Burn, The Vue, Tim Burgess and many others we had on recent tours.

I never was a fan of their music but at least some rock will wake up the audience before the show, at least in the General Admission concerts, where the fans are waiting for hours and hours.

Were there people there who came just to see Motley Crue? I mean, for Motley Crue fans, that's like a years salary.

On the other hand, Doxa, you'll have to admit that Mick Jagger is the ultimate expert when it comes to getting fans up out of their seats...

If Mick Jagger says the Crue got the fans out of their seats like no other opening act has, that's a pretty authoritative source...

Even more authoritative than such "experts" as "Ross" on this board.

As an old-time Stones fan I was frankly amazed by the energy at a Motley Crue gig. The fan excitement reminds me of what IT USED TO BE LIKE to be at an old-time Stones show... before the fans got so old.

The truth is, there's absolutely NOTHING wrong with the current tour. The Stones are playing fantastic... it's just that the AGING FAN BASE is finding it harder and harder to get their lackadaisical fatt-asses out of the chairs. This was painfully obvious at both Madison Square Garden, of all places, where numerous reviewers noticed the huge number of fans in the floor seats SITTING DOWN... as well as in Seattle where the Crue fans were noting that they loved the Stones music, but they found the CROWD to be much tamer than the average Crue audience.

And this is precisely the SECOND PROBLEM of this tour:

1) First problem: Aging fan base... as we can tell by the tour-haters and the Ronnie-haters on this board... they are just a bunch of fat-butts who can't rock anymore, who can barely get their tired ass out of their seats so BLAME THE BAND... BLAME THE ROLLING STONES... and this was clearly observed by the Crue fans on the Crue boards who remarked that they loved the Stones and their music, but they were surprised by the number of fans sitting in their chairs... something you'd never see at a Motley Crue show OR at an old-time Stones show...

2) The TICKETS ARE JUST TOO DAMN HIGH !! How many 20-somethings and teenagers and early-30's people can afford a 450 dollar ticket ??? SO, we fill up the floor and even the first balaconies only with people who can readily afford 350 to 450 per ticket... this just prices out alot of people who would otherwise be on their feet and dancing instead of sitting in their chairs like royalty like you had at MSG...

I agree completely. What can a poor boy do? Not at least attend to a Rolling Stones concert.

When Keith Richards loves to compare The Stones to old, romantic blues guys like Muddy Waters that play until they drop, I think he is bulsshitting. He should talk about Frank Sinatra or late-Elvis. It's big entertainment business, nothing more or less.

(I like Gazza's analogy in the Polish thread between the communist elite in '67 and the corporative elite now taking the best seats. Then The Stones did something for the 'real' fans, now they don't.)

I am not exactly complaining. Just stating some facts. Take it or leave it.

Bingo! He undoutedly likes the energy they bring, the way they get the crowd fired up, and the Crue fans they bring in who otherwise wouldn't see the Stones, but I seriously doubt he likes their music.

Some of their songs are pretty good in a brainless bang your head sort of way, but I've always found them rather shallow and cartoonish. They are a decent rock band, but there are about a million other rock bands I like better. Forget the Crue, bring on the New York Dolls if you must have a band that wore way too much makeup in their heyday.

Great point! It is just sad to see people sitting at a Stones concert, and unbelievable that some have the nerve to ask others to sit, just because they choose to sit themselves. I had this happen at a Paul McCartney concert in 2002, but I thought Stones fans were better than that.

I don't care how old you are, you ought to be able to stand up for two hours for God's sake. All you have to do is stand there, you don't even have to dance or move around at all. How hard is it to stand in one place for two hours? Ok, so there are some people too old or sick to do it, and that's unfortunate, I feel sorry for them, but they should stay home and get some rest. But most of those not standing are not too old or sick, they are just too fat and lazy. Screw those people!
