The worst is Dirty Work. Emotional Rescue, TSMR and BtB are second.

I like Dance pt 1, Down In The Hole, She's So Cold and All About You. The rest...not so much. Still a much better album in my opinion than DW.

There are a few questionable calls but I LOVE that record. Light years better than Dirty Work. Dirty Work is practically She's the Boss-bad.

Satanic Majesties is one of my favourites. You probably had to be around at the time to appreciate it,like old gits such as me.with everyone trying to outdo each other that year it was great when dylan pulled the plug out and released John Wesley Harding.it was also the year that "basement " songs started to appear, great times..................

Emotional Rescue may be the first song in history to require less time to write than to record.

She's So Cold is, of course, a classic.

The rest of ER is, well, ER - as in Emergency Room.

Where The Boys Go is the most embarassing thing the Stones have ever done...

tat, there are only a couple of songs the Stones have done that I don't like. For the most part I love them all, even the outtakes.

I have to agree that Where the Boys Go might be my all time least favorite Stones song. Right there with Back To Zero and Might As Well Get Juiced, which could have been a gem if the production was not techno.

Could have been a nice one if they left the girls at the end out.

I like ER. What's wrong with songs like Let Me Go or She's So Cold?
Even Dance, Down In The Hole and Summer Romance are ok.

Only the title track and Indian Girl are bad songs.

ER is not that bad, mediocre at the worst.

i here you JJ--- i like the raw sound of ER....i uesd to listen to that album all the time....i for one if and i mean if i had to pick a weak album it would be dirty work ....i do love one hit, to rude and harlem shuffle... but the rest is just stuff i would not listen to...ER i can listen to the whole cd and not skip a number

emotional rescue is highly enjoyable....its problem is that it had to follow some girls

I think it is the most UNDERRATED Stones album there is. It rocks and I love it. Come on, Summer Romance rocks and has really TOUGH lyrics. One of my favorite songs. Dance Part I and Let Me Go are really cool songs. "Nothing. Keith! Watcha, watcha doing?" She's So Cold is good, but I like it way better live, it sounds alot meaner. All About You is a great Keith song, lots of heart. And Emotional Rescue the song- a master peice...so different, so good, amazing...great singing, great sax, great mood. Never get tired of listening to that song.

About the album as a whole, yes there are a couple holes in it, songs I could live without. But there is alot of great stuff on this album. The holes in it keep it from greatness. But its still one of my favorite albums, I just skip around on it.

"You'll be studying history and you'll be down the gym. And I'll be down the pub, probably playing pool and drinking."

The sound of ER (the whole album) is very similar to some early Stones. The ballroom sound of some early covers e.g. Around and Around or If you need me etc.
I think the Stones wanted to make a ballroom sound album. To put their music in that sound and feeling. Because that time (around 1980) it was fashionable. So they made a "punk" album (Some Girls) and the next effort was the ballroom sound rock and roll of ER. I love both very much. Emotional Rescue is one of my favourite album.

I think they wrote Where The Boys Go and Lies during the same night. Two really bad songs IMO. Can't make it through either of them. But, I do think ER has it's good moments. Heck, I even like Indian Girl better than the two listed above. From all the outtakes I've heard from the Some Girls sessions I can't believe one of the Stones said "Yeah...that's good...Let's put Lies on the album!"

Explain "ballroom sound"? I'm intrigued...

I really like the album, for the most part.

It's a pretty good album, definitely not their worst.I would have to say Between The Buttons is the worst Stones album but,it is still better than a lot of bands' best of albums.

Nothing they put out in the 80s is as bad as Bridges to Crappalong and A Bigger Turd - and that includes their very worst release of that decade, Dirty Work.

Emotional Rescue was a poor crackwhore's Some Girls, sure, but next to A Bigger Piece of Crap Than The Last One We Did, it's positively inspired.
