You could do...

1. Rocks Off
2. Rip This Joint
3. Tumbling Dice
4. Sweet Virginia
5. Loving Cup

6. Happy
7. Let It Loose
8. All Down the Line
9. Shine a Light
10.Soul Survivor

with the singles...

Tumbling Dice / Stop Breaking Down
Happy / Torn and Frayed
Rip This Joint / Casino Boogie

That would still omit...

Shake Your Hips, Sweet Black Angel, Turd on the Run, Ventilator Blues, and I Just Want To See His Face

There is a lot of filler on EXILE, but the filler works so well in the context of the album that I'm not certain a condensed version would even retain the same charm and feel.

I cannot imagine Exile as a single album.

The same for Blonde on Blonde, Tommy, Quadrophenia or the White Album...

Could you dance on that music with one leg? Impossible...

Perhaps you could give it a shot, see what it's like, get away from being biased.

They considered All Down The Line as a single, at least according to some books. I love Turd On The Run but the running order you have is really @#$%& good. Ignoring technology etc, imagine if they'd released EOMS as a single LP in 1985 or so - there'd most likely be a single EP, which could include the 5 tracks you left off that weren't B-sides already.

There was an ad in Rolling Stone magazine for "All Down the Line" as the new single with "Happy" as the B-side. I was always curious if it was radio stations that favored "Happy" just as "Reason to Believe" was supposed to be Rod Stewart's single and radio stations favored "Maggie May."

That would be a great find!

Here's a couple...

I don't think either are the one I remember. If anyone here has it, it would be Terry. The man has everything.

In this scenario, Rocks Off should be a single, b/w SBA

It's weird that there were only 2 singles from EOMS.

Rocks Off indeed should've been a single, as well as All Down The Line. Why Happy was doesn't make much sense.

Exile is indeed two well thought out single albums.

Just seen this thread after a week away.

Sacrilegious ! winking smiley

If Exile on Main Street Was a single album...

...it just wouldn't be Exile on Main Street.

It's an album with such a strong and unique vibe , which depends on the contribution of every track on the album... and which would be greatly diluted by any omissions.
