No internet back then to spoil the surprise!

She probably went home and bitched to everyone at school the next day that they played all these weird new songs and not enough warhorses.....

The guy shouts "PAINT IT BLACK", not "Let It Rock", I checked on the CD. How come you thinks he shouts "Let it Rock"? Of course the audience had not even heard this song...

Ok, I know what a soccer mom is, but I must confess I need some help with MILF.

Also that comment insinuating that a person in "mid fifties" wouldn't rock to the Stones really hurt.

I dragged my wife (61) to the Durham show for her first ever Stones concert. She hates the Stones with a passion, but she liked the show to my surprise. Onlay the greatest rock and roll band in the world could have done that.

She also said she now see's exactly what I meant when I told her Johnnie Depp modeled the physical mannerisms in his Pirates character after Keith.

Exactly. Like the first time Zep played Stairway and everyone was bored to tears because they wanted to hear something they recognized, like Whole Lotta Love.

You know, I always thought that the Paint It Black You Devil girl might well have been that little brunette in Gimmie Shelter who is sitting on the edge of the stage and gets dragged away by security. She looks like she's all of about 4' 11".

She probably still goes to Stones shows and tries to impress all the young guys by telling them who she is. And they don't believe her.

legend has it the the chick hollering it on YaYas is Janis Joplin.
probably apocryphal, but who knows - she *was* at the gig,
and rather famously hollered a few other things as well.

"What do you want - what?!"
- Keith

oddly enough, I know several people who were AT that show (Ulster Hall, Belfast 1971) - saying that, practically every rock fan in Northern Ireland over 45 claims to have been at that gig. It seems that about 100,000 people were at that show, yet the place only holds about 1,800

and of course everyone who claims to have been at that show will tell you how they got it and instantly realised it would be a classic. yeah, right...
