Some people have commented, including on IORR, that Mick and Keith have big "egos". But is this actually true? I never hear them puffing up their own importance in interviews. On the contrary, they are quick to note that they are just links in a giant musical chain, and to pay homage to their heroes. And both of them talk about the importance of separating the rock-star image from reality.

Obviously in the 1970s Mick was the proud, preening peacock, but I think his lack of success as a solo artist put a swift end to most of that. And Keith, for all his on-stage posing a few years ago, seems like a humble man to his core ("I'm just a guitar-player").

So, big "egos"?? I would argue that this is not true, especially for two men who have been idolized for most of their lives.

It all rather depends on what we mean by a "big ego" I suppose.

Neither Mick nor Keith behave outwardly in a self important manner.

But this doesn't mean they don't have big egos...just perhaps that some folks with big egos can still normally be pleasant and considerate in their interactions with others.

When you've effectively lived the life of Royalty for 50 years it must have some inflationary affect on your self image...and you must get rather too used to having things your own way .

[Perhaps that's partly why Mick & Keith get upset with each other . Each is one if the very few people who will ever say no to the other .]

All the above said...from the glimpses of them we get , they do seem to keep their feet commendably on the ground and haven't drifted off to that "cuckoo land" inhabited by plenty of other "celebrities" and powerful individuals.

They wouldn't have achieved what they have without big ego's.

I mean come on, look, 75 year old's playing stadium rock, you can't do that without a big ego, if they realised they were are old men and came out of denial they wouldn't still be touring lol, i love them for their ego's.

They may have inflatable egos; when they are at home the thing is rather soft and barely noticeable but when they step "on stage" the egos grow noticeably because lot of people are watching.

Same goes for Mick. Although i feel that Keef lets his feelings more go and shows it. Whereas Mick does not really show his emotions.

Nobody here can answer that question because we don't know them personally.

No, not on THAT level. Celebrities like Mick and Keith have massive egos. That's barely in dispute.

We are all complicated ...but some more than others.

At least Mick has else he would not be the big star / performer he is.

You have to believe in yourself to be able to do what you to.

Keith has always been a bit in behind of Mick, to a certain extent he has a big ego. It came to appearance in the mid 80'ies and further.

Self belief and self importance are two very different things...sometimes going together but sometimes not.

Our boys probably aren't short on either...but you don't have to be arrogant to believe in yourself...or to be a success.

Their egos are big when anyone's watching.

Not nearly as big as some members of much lesser bands.

If you have people telling you how great you are and how much they mean to you, you will be humbled and also have a big ego. Everything is given to you. they dress you they feed you, how can you not.

i'm sure Charlie folding his socks is the most any of them do for themselves.

Thats just the way it is. If they have a big ego I take the blame for my idolization of them . And I'm proud of it.
