Soundcheck question

hi folks,
how does that thing work with the soundcheck...
they do it several hours before the show starts..
normaly I "learned" that the band plays 3-4 songs which they do play at showtime.
But the Stones seem to have an other kind of system about that.

They play songs they do not always play the same night,
but yesterdays soundcheck was very strange realy.
At yestrdays soundcheck in Washington they playd

Sweet Virginia.....but NOT played at the show 5 hours later
Rain Fall Down !!!!... but NOT playd the same night
Laugh, I nearly died !!!...NOt playd

Does anyone clear what the soundcheck is all about ??

Anyway...reading they playd "Laugh.." & " Rain..." made me shiver..
can not wait getting those tunes onstage shortly.

I would bet, they are preparing those songs to get them on stage in the very future.
They need to be played and rehearsed, so the best thing is to do 'em on the big Stage. They are still fresh, not hung up for a week (exept SV)

i think openG got it with "theyre preparing those unplayed tunes for an upcoming gig possibly....but basically the soundcheck is excactly what the word implies...checking the overall sound in the stadium, arena, etc...i call it tweeking the sound... volume levels, monitor mixes, pa mixes, vocal, guitar, bass, drum volumes & tones, etc...best wishes

from past tours (and this one) - just because it gets soundchecked doesn't mean it will ever make it to an actual show. Soul Survivor (Licks tour) comes to mind.
