love for locals to let us know the train/subway access tips.. Would love to stay in Manhattan and make a mini vacation out of it.. what is the public transport path to MetLife..


I did the 2012 Prudential Center in Newark and even though it was only an arena show it was a mess of very long waits to get back to city and also lines to buy tickets took forever..

Tips and tricks appreciated..

Took a car service/Uber one way and would do it again if faster.

There's a train that rolls right up to stadium. Public transport to and from Manhattan no problem at all. Very easy. Have used it for concerts at MetLife before. I always stay in NYC. There are hotels billed as close to the stadium, but they are not. You would still have to take a cab or uber to your hotel. You can't walk from these hotels to the stadium either, because it's all highways.

Thanks for the info. Staying in Manhattan and it sounds pretty straightforward . Mind you, after some of the recent disorganised chaos, especially Hamburg , Barcelona and Twickenham any way back from the gig is a relief !

I prefer the buses from the Port Authority in Manhattan.
Quickest and easiest way.
(unless you decide to take an Uber)

The trains are ok,but you have to change trains in Seacaucus and you have to line-up for the train after the show. This also takes longer then the bus.

COMMENT: There is a rumour about a 2nd show as shown in the IORR list of confirmed and rumoured shows. It is expected that the show number two here will go on sale as soon as tickets for show number one move fast as expected.

anything you are hearing about how easy it is to get there via train be warned! It was a disaster when they played Prudential. Friends of mine stuck on a train for hours. There is NO direct train from NYC!

for football games each week it is utter chaos. After all these years the MTA cannot get their act together. Do NOT take the train even 90 minutes before the show, Yes it should take about 15 - 20 minutes but it wont.

The bus is a crapshoot as well. One flat tire or accident on the Turnpike can cause a huge bladder-bursting delay.

There is major road construction on the highway leading to and from the Lincoln tunnel so Keep that in mind. Rush hour is tough but taking the bus, Uber, etc from Metlife back to NYC after the show might not be too bad.

These shows are scheduled for work days, Thursday and Monday, making taking the bus or train from Manhattan challenging to say the least as you will be in the mix with commuters. New Jersey Transit out of Manhattan has been nightmarish recently. I would consider staying in NJ, Rutherford, East Rutherford or even Secaucus all in NJ and take a cab or Uber. You can take a bus into NYC during the day, between rush hours and Newark Airport is only 15 miles down the NJ Turnpike.

They usually have special buses running to and from the Port Authority for stadium events. I took it in 2006 with no issues.

They run buses for all major events. Cash only !!!

Not true. There is the PATH train which goes directly to Newark from NYC.
Its less then a 10 min. walk to the Prudential from Newark Penn Station. I do this for all the shows at the Rock. Sometimes after the show there is a line for the train, but its tolerable.
I never had to wait more then 30 mins after seeing a show there for the PATH.

For Metlife they will add special direct buses from/and to the Port Authourity in Manhattan to MetLife Stadium. In addition to the normal NJ Transit Buses and Coachline buses. Even with rush hour traffic on the weekdays, they designate special bus only lanes for the Lincoln tunnel and on RT. 495. You may have to que up to get on the buses, but once you are on it, the bus is less then a half hour.

Waiting to hear back from MetLife. I MAY get a suite if price is as reasonable as Rentchler Field Hartford. That was a great experience.

Does anyone know if you can walk from this hotel to the stadium and if so, approximately how far is it. Also is it a safe area to walk at night.

Yeah, it's literally right across the street. That road is very busy but it is passable. Bring up the map, you done real good.

From north of New York City you can follow these directions from Metro North rail on getting to the stadium for football (American) games:

Thanks Nick, we took a gamble and booked our accommodation before the tour was announced so were lucky to get good prices. Coming over from New Zealand, so wanted to get as much as possible lined up before buying tickets and booking flights. Now just got get decent tickets and reasonably priced flights and it's game on

It would be a very long walk. Im sure the hotel will be offering shuttles.
Also a little risky on that route to walk.
Or take an Uber.
