Was there supposed to be a US Tour in '76? Or a few one off shows?

Yes but I recall reading they had issues getting Keith a visa?

There was talk, a lot of it, about a July 4 gig (the U.S. Bicentennial) at the LA Coliseum. Perhaps Knebworth was the better alternative.

I heard something like this about Hamburg 1978. Or was it 1979.

I clearly remember the rumours about a 1976 US Tour but I had trouble believing it as at that time a tour every three years seemed to be almost a religious tradition. I remember reading a newspaper article that said it was canceled because Jagger and Richards were feuding. Don't know if it was true at the time.

That was reported in Rolling Stone. There wasn't going to be a tour, just a July 4th Bicentennial show in L.A.

There was a story in Rolling Stone titled "Stones back off mini tour" that you might be able to find,it was only going to be 6-8 gigs...

Believe it or not, the article is online. Six shows planned in Oakland, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Chicago and Detroit.
