Reason for Start Me Up

The Stones are evidently going to be played live on TV as part of the start of the NFL football season in the US. (one song I assume) Is it possible this is the reason for the Start Me Up opener? They can time it perfectly because its the opener. I guess they'll make money from the live audience AND get a paycheck from TV.

I personally feel that once a song is used in a television commercial,as SMU was, it should be banned from any future live performances. I guess Money talks, bullsh*t walks.

I am shocked that they used smu again! I thought rj or sftd. That's kinda lame, but hey, let's get it over with first then on with the show!

yeah - i was really hoping/expecting HTW...just to give this tour a different "personality" - and after listening to the 8/21 show, I second my opinion. SMU is a been-there-done-that opener...HTW was played like a mofo on the b-stage and would have easily eclipsed SMU as the opener.

HTW is a been there/done that as well...

The reason I think SMU isn't the best choice is that it CAN'T be better than the 89' tour. Having CD going & then busting into those opening chords was just the best concert opener ever...it was perfect. Since they can't do it that well again...pick another song. I'm always happy with JJF...but then again, it's my favorite song ever.

Isnt JJF a outro song rather than an intro?

I don´t mind that SMU is the opening. But they did it much better and with more energy on the SW/UJ tour.
The song dragged a bit on opening night.
Compare it with the Flashpoint version and you´ll hear.
That´s a kilelr version with Ronnie playing brilliantly.

my point is that 30 is 2x 15....you take the big number and divide by the....

C´mon all of you:

Was SMU that lame or without energy on both nights in Boston????

I was not there but I am sure it was not!!

But It would be great to hear RJ for a change for opening...!

Well, I can't vouch for the first 2 minutes (missing in the recording) - but it seemed about the same as it always is. Of course it's a crowd-pleaser, but that's beside the point, according to some of us dumb-asses.....

I thought it kicked ass, all Stones, grungier than SW/Flashpoint version. With all the audience excitement it's a bit hard to analyze, but I was satisfied.
