Go to [www.omega.hu]
and click "A Hetedik Napon", listen & enjoy...

Its the progressive, hard-beatin Hungarians Omega in a tune from 1973...
These lads have been playing since 1962...

If is suits your taste; go to [www.omega.hu]
and click Szvit 1. tétel: Ébredés and so on on, until the 6th part.

Liked it all? - Go back to this thread & I give you some more good listening samples...

Sure better to do while eaiting for the World Tour Debut, than bashin each other countries or other meaningless shite.

When we speak about hungarian oldies, i like Illés a lot more. They had their farewell-show last week, it was frenetic.

Sure Illés are good... But do they have streaming full-length-versions of all their recorded songs... ?

How does that sound? Not like a perfect sentence, right?

Do you have any link to Illés?
...And have you heard Kampec Dolores?

Baboon Bro Úr!

Majdhogynem tökéletes magyarsággal megfogalmazott mondatai megdobogtatták a szívem, ezért ettQl fogva el nem múló barátsággal tekintek Önre.

(Dear MR. Baboon Bro!

Your almost perfect hungarian sentences made my heart beat faster, from now on I'll always treat You like an honest friend of mine.)

Illés-website doesn't content any music, and I only have their albums on vinyl, but i plan to buy the new boxed set, and when I do, I can send you the stuff per mail. (especially the concert in 1981 is unforgettable!)

Of course I heard Kampec Dolores, they were big in the Budapest-underground szene at the beginning-middle of the '90-s

Buda or Pest... ?
Ha én beszélek magyarul... ? "That 'good' ", well... Short background -
First three trips (1982, 84 & 85) to ooool´ Magyarórszag.
Then a couple of evening courses while livin in Stockholm.
Last three semesters or two courses on Hungarian
at Uppsala University to wonderful teachers Elödi Anna és Dugantsy Mária.

I´ve been to Siófok, Kaposvár, Dombovár, Mezökövesd (several timnes), Eger
(also many times), Miskolc, Debrecen; and, of course to Budapest.
I´ve seen Edda Müvek live at the Budapesti Sportcsarnok.
Also got the drummer´s & some other members autograph while meeting
them promotiung the night´s concert in city centre
(at Nyúgati Pályaudvar as I recall it).
...I love Hungarian heavy rock, progressive rock, blues & avantgarde.
I like some of the folk acts too. Fav´s: Omega, HBB, P Mobil, P Box, Edda,
Bill, László Földes, Kampec Dolores, Bizottság, East, Solaris, Marta Sebestyen & a lot of others... I also learnt to love the literature of Attila József; Eötvös, Ady, Petöfi etc...

But please feel free - Gaigai - to use my email-adress above; if not before so when you buy the Illés boxed set. Or anything else of interest. Or anytime.
Jó éjt kívánok!!

I´m pretty sure by now some sour stomached type are itching fingers to complain over this semi-private conversation...
But dont you worry, we´re soon over in a pm-communication. HAPPY TOUR!!!

(Below: The Seventh / A Hetedik by Attila József 1932,
a street-smart poem some 70 years ahead of its time...)

Attila József:
The Seventh (A hetedik)

If you set out in this world,
better be born seven times.
Once, in a house on fire,
once, in a freezing flood,
once, in a wild madhouse,
once, in a field of ripe wheat,
once, in an empty cloister,
and once among pigs in sty.
Six babes crying, not enough:
you yourself must be the seventh.

When you must fight to survive,
let your enemy see seven.
One, away from work on Sunday,
one, starting his work on Monday,
one, who teaches without payment,
one, who learned to swim by drowning,
one, who is the seed of a forest,
and one, whom wild forefathers protect,
but all their tricks are not enough:
you yourself must be the seventh.

If you want to find a woman,
let seven men go for her.
One, who gives heart for words,
one, who takes care of himself,
one, who claims to be a dreamer,
one, who through her skirt can feel her,
one, who knows the hooks and snaps,
one, who steps upon her scarf:
let them buzz like flies around her.
You yourself must be the seventh.

If you write and can afford it,
let seven men write your poem.
One, who builds a marble village,
one, who was born in his sleep,
one, who charts the sky and knows it,
one, whom words call by his name,
one, who perfected his soul,
one, who dissects living rats.
Two are brave and four are wise;
You yourself must be the seventh.

And if all went as was written,
you will die for seven men.
One, who is rocked and suckled,
one, who grabs a hard young breast,
one, who throws down empty dishes,
one, who helps the poor win;
one, who worked till he goes to pieces,
one, who just stares at the moon.
The world will be your tombstone:
you yourself must be the seventh.

József Attila: A hetedik
------------------------

E világon ha ütsz tanyát,
hétszer szûljön meg az anyád!
Egyszer szûljön égõ házban,
egyszer jeges áradásban,
egyszer bolondok házában,
egyszer hajló, szép búzában,
egyszer kongó kolostorban,
egyszer disznók közt az ólban.
Fölsír a hat, de mire mégy?
A hetedik te magad légy!

Ellenség ha elõdbe áll,
hét legyen, kit elõtalál.
Egy, ki kezdi szabad napját,
egy ki végzi szolgálatját,
egy, ki népet ingyen oktat,
egy, kit úszni vízbe dobtak,
egy, ki magva erdõségnek,
egy, kit õse bõgve védett,
csellel, gánccsal mind nem elég, --
a hetedik te magad légy!

Szeretõ után ha járnál,
hét legyen, ki lány után jár.
Egy, ki szivet ad szaváért,
egy, ki megfizet magáért,
egy, ki a merengõt adja,
egy, ki a szoknyát kutatja,
egy, ki tudja, hol a kapocs,
egy, ki kendõcskére tapos, --
dongják körül, mint húst a légy!
A hetedik te magad légy.

Ha költenél s van rá költség,
azt a verset heten költsék.
Egy, ki márványból rak falut,
egy, ki mikor szûlték, aludt,
egy, ki eget mér és bólint,
egy, kit a szó nevén szólít,
egy, ki lelkét üti nyélbe,
egy, ki patkányt boncol élve.
Kettõ vitéz és tudós négy, --
a hetedik te magad légy.

S ha mindez volt, ahogy írva,
hét emberként szállj a sírba.
Egy, kit tejes kebel ringat,
egy, ki kemény mell után kap,
egy, ki elvet üres edényt,
egy, ki gyõzni segít szegényt,
egy, ki dolgozik bomolva,
egy, aki csak néz a Holdra:
Világ sírköve alatt mégy!
A hetedik te magad légy.
