Yes. It was fantastic. Unique. Lead slide on the first part of "Back Of My Hand". I will write more in the Phenix report published soon here.

Sure sounded like Ronnie to me. I guess Mick has been noodling on the axe a litle more lately. Lets see if he plays slide on stage with Ron.

Come on... I was there... Mick was all up front with a shining metal bottleneck piece nicked to his finger. Singing the deep blues like it was a club in Chicago with four people in the crowd only. With the slide. I was looking at Keith. He did not do the slide. I was looking at Ronnie. He did not do it. It was all Mick, doing this raw great unique intro. Then he steped back after a while and left the 2nd part over to Ronnie. I never saw Mick doing any slide before, but hew sure must have taken some lessons. It was unique. And after the song the guy next to me simply said: "Did you see that? Mick on slide? Awsome!" Yes. It's the word for it. Quite unique... More soon...

I bet you will get this in Boston... we are all in for a treat...

Jagger's a really underated guitarist for mine.
Anyone see him ripping out those licks backstage with Ike and Tina on an open g tuned strat in 69?
I was amazed at how deft he was at the instrument.

Have you ever lent somebody $20 and never seen them again? It was probably worth it.

I'm sure he could do it
there are gonna be some nice surprises...

Does someone know the brand of the guitar Mick played in Toronto? It's not a Fender, I guess.

Guys... Don't you know Mick's solo song Blue? He played slide on this too! So I knew when I heard Back Of My Hand for a couple of times that it had to be Mick. Only he plays that raw vibrato thing with the slide... it's his style!

So I am not surprised. I am surprised though, exciting actually, that he played his slide part on stage!! That had to be cool!

It looks like a Danelectro, but I'm not sure at all.

i knew mick was a good guitarist. the way he plays rhythm guitar is also quite unique. he's very musically gifted if you ask me.

by the way who played the harp then? he can't possibly have played them both?

My only problem with MJ playing slide on the song is my problem in general when MJ plays guitar on stage - his attention to the vocal suffers, invariably (and from the snippet I saw of last night's performance - it happened here too - he looks down to see where is left hand is and more or less "loses" the vocal). I could site countless examples - the worst case being Crazy Mama on the b-stage during the B2B tour - his guitar contributions were extraneous at best and his vocal was way off. I'd just as soon MJ toss away the guitar on BOHMH and let him deliver a great blues vocal....

Bjornulf,

Since you were at the show, did Mick also play harp on Back of My Hand?

the word was that MJ didn't play harp the entire show. I think he needs to drop the slide prop and pick up the harp for this song. also, Infamy must've sounded very different without MJ's harp - sounds like it's central to the sound of the song from the samples we've heard.
