I love them both! What's wrong with a great ballad? Look what happened to "Angie"!. A song that hadr core stones-fans hated at first, but who's screaming now, every time they do it live?? My guess is, that in a not so distant future, you'll all love it. And by the way, Goddess is a great album. Poor sales though. But great sales don't guarantee for a great album...

AMEN Shidoobee,

I ALSO think Goddess is great. I don't think we share this view with too many others however !

there's nothing wrong with a 'great' ballad

there is however a LOT wrong with a truly shit one

i confidently predict it'll get to about 75 in the charts

it's crap. whether its the Stones or not has no bearing on it. a turd is a turd

it sounds like a solo outake from one of Jagger's turkeys

I hope, the new Album will be much better than "EXILE". Didnt like the first Single of this one. called Tumblin Dice. "let it loose" "Lovin Cup" "All down the line" are great. I dont hope that the boys come out with another "Exile"!!!

I've no problem with them releasing ballads as they have in the past recorded some utter gems in that genre.

However, if theyre going to get away with releasing a ballad as the first single, it would need to be a very strong one of the standards of "Angie", "Ruby Tuesday" or "Wild Horses". This isnt anywhere near that level or even that of "Out of tears" (their last high quality ballad) , nor is it particularly commercial sounding. Its not as bad a track as some people are making out, but it just ISNT a single.

the whole point of a first single is to promote the album. I cant see that song enticing too many people to buy it, or the album for that matter. "Rough justice" simply SCREAMS "single" and more importantly it absolutely screams "It's the Rolling Stones!" from the first chord. That song will remind people who have drifted away from the band's music that theyre alive and kicnking and also why they liked them in the first place.

Just got in from work and listened to the tracks. I'm not too sure about Streets of Love, need to listen to it a few more times. I found the lyrics a bit "cheesy". I really liked Rough Justice though, good bit of rock n' roll. I'm off to listen some more.

I think I've bust a button on my trousers....

typical stones ballad. The other has an intro that sounds like the faces. Pretty good.

Cant understand your critics of "street of love". Great Ballad---Great Melody---Great Jagger-singing. Like it much more than a lot of other ballads.

If you see the Charts----Definetly "Streets of Love"---has to be the Single.

-----and I think--Its NOT on the new Album....

Well, 'Rough Justice' is exactly what we've all been hoping for isn't it? A proper stones rocker with plenty of juice.

'Streets of Love' is rather like one of those Aerosmith ballads that personally do nothing for me, but then 'Gomper' never rocked my world either....

If Streets of Love gets some airplay at least the album might get heard.

The band were amazing at Wembley in August 2003 and if I can see the same next year with some randy, pumped up new rockers in the set, then I for one am more than satisfied.

Love the lyrics about 'cocks' by the way!

I'm a big Goddess fan. I could give a damn about the sales or the snobs.....very good songs. I especially liked Brand New Set of Rules.

Streets of Love is pure junk! How can anyone compare it to the likes of Wild Horses, Angie, etc?..I think it is an embarrassment. Charlie is great on RJ, tho...much like the drums on When the Whip Comes Down.

I dont compare "streets of love" with"Wild Horses", But for me its a great song. Like the way Mick sings... When Mick announce "Now--Keith is gonna sing for you" i have time to buy some drinks---with one exeption--when he is Doing "You got the silver"!

I've been listening to both songs all day. It took a few listens, but I like Streets of Love; I especially like the vocals--I like the aching tone in Mick's voice. I think it has a catchy melody, and has the potential to be a hit single. Regarding Aerosmith, I hated "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing", but it got them to #1, and gained them some much-deserved exposure--I loved seeing Aerosmith on top again. I'd love to see the Stones get a hit single out of this and have everyone talk about them again.

As for "Rough Justice"--oh my GOD!! I can't wait to hear this one live--it's gonna tear the place down. I LOVE this song.

And, as many have said, "Streets of Love" might be a nice slow-down break during a show or during the album. That aaah-aaah-aaah-aaah thing can be pretty catchy. I can also imagine a whole stadium singing along with Mick, just like the "oohs" on "Miss You".

I liked Brand New Set of Rules also. But take away Jaggers voice from "Streets of shit", then it can by any shitty pop band in the world. Nobody'll recognize the stones, thats it. Bad drumsound with amateur loops, Bryan Adams-like guitars, lame break, kiddy scale and synthiesound as a solo, simple pop shit. A tune to forget. They shouldn't release it as a single, better not put in on the album. Perhaps as c-side to the fourth single...

"Streets Of Love" sounds like "Out of Tears" but without the hooks. "Rough Justice" is okay but I much prefer "Oh No Not You Again" which is full of that wonderful Stones swagger.

I'm sorry but these songs are just not very remarkable.

Well, here's my view for what it's worth.

I listened to Streets of Love and it was an interesting song...it kept my attention throughout but I only heard it once. I'm neutral on it at the moment.

Rough Justice on the other hand is pure Rolling Stones classic material! It almost falls together at the beginning and then Charlie's drums come in and BAM! the song roars off!

These are the lyrics I think.....

Rough Justice

One time you were my berry chicken
Now you've flown into a box
Once upon a time I was your little rooster
now am I just one of your cocks?

It's rough justice oh yeah
You're gonna have to trust me
It's rough justice
but you know it'll never break your heart

So put your lips to my hips baby
Tell me whats on your mind
I know you still got the animal attraction for me
It's been a long long time

It's rough justice oh yeah
we never thought it would scare us all
Its rough justice
but you know it'll never break your heart

You're feeling loose and lazy
So if you really want me
It's rough justice
but you know it'll never break your heart

SOLO

It's rough justice oh yeah
You think you really sussed me
Its rough justice
but you know it'll never break your heart

The first time I saw you baby
you were springing like a young gazelle
And next thing I know
You're way down the road
Flying like a bat out of hell

It's rough justice oh yeah
You're eyes are too disgusting
You're gonna have to trust me
but you know it'll never break your heart

I give you my possesions
Don't want no opposition
It's rough justice
but you know it'll never break your heart

Regards,

Ian.

Streets Of Love is so-so.....BUT:

Rough Justice absolutely @#$%&' rocks! What a GREAT song! The guy posting aboves says....

"Sounds like a mailed in rocker, with a "nothing" riff and recycled sex joke lyrics...can we please grow up someday, Mick?"

WTF???? What DO you want man??!!! Would you like a more "mature" approach to the lyrics?? Perhaps a rocker with some lyrics about being a grandfather?? Yawn.....this is rock and roll man, who gives a shyte how old they are!! ARRGGGHH

The Stones just delivered their best new single since Start Me Up and you're bashing it 'cause it's not "mature"....

A "nothing" riff??? It's hooked me 'cause I've been listening to it all morning...straight-ahead simple catchy riff.....MAN WHAT A GREAT SONG!!!!

Listened to them a few more times now and Streets of Love has really grown on me, it's good - give it a few more listens.
I really like the line in rough justice "now I'm just one of your cocks", A double meaning maybe?

I love Rough Justice! Great rocker, good guitars. The beginning is pure stones. First guitar and the not so subtle transition to the drums, you're just waiting for it to kick in. Every other band would make a smood transition but thank god the stones still have a feel for rock and roll!!

Cheers,
Wuudy

I don't want the same ol' lame sex joke of a song for the umpteenth time. I could have written such drivel of a lyric in 20 minutes...for Mick it probably only took 10. It just means they either don't care or have nothing left to say.

>

I guess we all react to the music differently. I react with a yawn. There's nothing that pushes the envelope here at all. It rocks. Yeah. whoopy. All rock songs rock. Saying it's their best single in 25 years (it's not even clear whether RJ is the single, by the by) ain't saying that much, either.

I'm looking forward to the tour a great deal. I've been very reluctant to welcome in a new album, and now I know why. Based on these 3 songs, my reluctance was very appropriate.

Here's my opinion smiling smiley:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Streets Of Love:
----------------
OK filler. Not single material at all, but still "good enough". I agree with the ones who say it could be a Goddess outtake. Not a song that would become a gem in time, or would ever need rememberance later. It's Mick at his worst in a way. But it's in the better half of Mick's bad songs. Let me put it that way. All in all an OK song. But I would bet that they have a better song out of the 18 they got nailed than this one. So maybe skip this one and take a different one.

Rough Justice:
--------------
HOLY CRAP!!!!! This one is a real cool rocker. Great one indeed. And I heard it through some bad headphones. When it gets on a good stereo it will rock much harder. It's equally good as Flip The Switch, maybe better IMVHO. And it has great guitars and great basslines especially. Keith simply can't lose his mojo. This song really proves that. And the lyrics are funny and great. No need for saying anything more than this one's just great.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This album is gonna be great I think. It has been reported that there's many rockers on it right??? So it won't be a mish-mash of some obvious Keef songs and some obvious Mick songs. Maybe they'll listen to us and send out the songs that has the most positive feedback. I hope so. An album for the fans is always cool.

MANY thanks for Rough Justice, and thanks for Streets Of Love.

(PS: Thanks JP. I heard them though RockPassion smiling smiley)

Expect more rockers on the album. My friend Ove who was at the listening party last month in London was happily surprised.
