Does "terror" affect your touring plans?
Posted by: TooTough ()
Date: July 15, 2005 22:34

Are anyone´s tourplans here affected by fear of that bombing,
hijacking etc.? All those Stones countries of the
upcoming tour might also be possible targets now or in
the future.

Usually I´m not scary, but I was in London in March for
Ronnie´s show and Edgware Road was the station my hotel was at.

You have to lock out the fear.
If you don't, then they won.

i'm not either
And whenever i go to Washington i think about it
I was in DC a month after 911, seeing the Pentagon in person
was frighting.
I really dislike the area (i'm in Norfolk Virginia) but they always have good tours go thru there

Definitely not, I saw Sept 11th with my own eyes here in NYC 2 blocks from the WTC - why live your life in fear? That would be pathetic.

not in the least. statistics will tell you driving the car to the store for a six-pack is 1000x more likely to kill you than dying in a terrorist attack. some folks don't operate that rationally, however...

No. I'd kill at least 1 terrorist a day if they'd give me the chance.

It hasnt and never will. If anything, it makes me more determined for my life NOT to be affected by it. Thats always been the case throughout my entire life, not just as a result of the last few weeks. 9/11 only made me more determined as a matter of principle to go to see the Stones in New York on the last tour - not the reverse.

Mind you, if the Stones were to schedule a date in Baghdad on the next tour, I might consider giving it a miss

I have it in the back of my mind but it will NOT stop me! I'll be taking Amtrak to Philly and Montreal and NYC. I am trying to fly to Toronto but not sure I'll pull it off.

No way. I may be going to the "Holy Land" next year and people ask me if I think it's safe. Who knows which places are safe and which are not? I would not deliberately walk into a known terrorist target, but, otherwise, I cannot allow the cowardly terrorists stop me from living and going where I want to go.

Yep, it shure does... terror of not getting my choice of entree in First Class when I fly to and within Europe next February. Seriously, more people die in car crashes every day than have died from 'terrorist' attacks.

Ha ha Gazza LOL!!
But what if they played a 7 night string of club shows in baghdad, and all other club shows were cancelled??!! Hmmm....

@#$%& the terrorists, there's no way I'm gonna let them interfere with my quality of life. I live in London and (unlike some people) have no problem flying to the states with American airlines or United, etc...

BA are better though!

Is this a joke? Of course not.

I'm English and we don't let minor inconvieniences like terrorist attacks get in the way of any thing.

like I said, Jimmy, I'd only "consider" giving it a miss. LOL

Mind you, if the tickets were "casino" prices instead of "theatre show" prices, that would be more likely to scare me off.....

Bankruptcy scares me more than bombs do!

As for terror, here's a good joke about all of it...

At Phoenix Sky Harbor airport today, an individual -- later discovered to be a public school teacher -- was arrested trying to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a setsquare, a slide rule, and a calculator. At a morning press conference, Attorney General John Ashcroft said he believes the man is a member of the notorious al-gebra movement. He is being charged by the FBI with carrying weapons of math instruction.

"Al-gebra is a fearsome cult," Ashcroft said. "They desire average solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in a search of absolute value. They use secret code names like 'x' and 'y' and refer to themselves as 'unknowns,' but we have determined they belong to a common denominator of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every country. As the Greek philanderer Isosceles used to say, there are 3 sides to every triangle."

When asked to comment on the arrest, President Bush said,  "If God had wanted us to have better weapons of math instruction, He would have given us more fingers and toes."

Nothin' will stop me from seeing the Stones. I proved that when I jumped on the train from Athens for travel into Turkey, (Istanbul 98) and some of us had our bags searched by Turkish soldiers, out in the middle of no mans land, they were wearing sub-machine guns. One told me to shut up, it was scarey. I got LOVE IS STRONG Played in Istanbul though, worth it? Yes!

I don't really think about the terrorist, I grew up hearing about WWIII happening, so if that happens, I already have a plan, I know where to live if we're attacked, and I'll go down fighting and killing as many enemies as possible.

Although, I feel you should be "watchful" when traveling, just keep a look about ya. Going into Turkey or other country that has problems, take at least $100 bucks, with you in your own currency, they like your currency, (I was told $50, back then) you will be asked for it and go ahead and give it to the border guards, or, you may be retained.

Us in Britain have always had to contend with terrorists so I doubt it will change anything. After all, I don't remember the IRA affecting the 80s or 90s shows in London. Spain is also used to terrorists with ETA. I can't see the difference between the old IRA threat and the newer threat from muslim fundementalists (except that the IRA were payroled by the USA).

It surely affects travelling and security, but it doesn't stop me from rocking and seeing the boys finally in the US and next year in Europe

I don't see how it affects travel, unless you actually get caught up in an incident.

I suppose that US has had to increase security post 9-11 and that may be a perceivable difference there, but we always had a high level of security in UK so we are used to it for many years now.
