How many of you good people own any of these releases? What are the best ones? I only have L&G which is very good. Don't know why they change the playlists though on some of them. There's a new LA Forum on their site with It's only R&R as the last song and ommiting Billy Preston's two #'s
mckwill I own them all. I think they are EXCELLENT! Every one of them. But I will tell you that there are some people that disagree totally with SM's releases. And these are some really intelligent people too. So you got to make your own choice. If you say you dig L&G then that is a good reason to maybe check out another one. What the Sister does is to remaster already existing shows and sessions. IMO always with astonishing results. Good ones are "Timeless" the 73 Europe shows. "Berlladona on a Toussaint Night" I like a lot. That is the 73 London show. The 98 Rio show is great. "Cold Blue Steel" and "Voodoo Africana" are truly great.
I'd echo Chelsea's sentiments and add Gorgeous Girls, Casino Boogie (Vegas 99) and Women Wine and Song (Vegas 97) to the list of recomended results. I have almost the entire catalogue but unfortunately last year I had two massive cd folders stolen from my studio. One of those folders was only Stones bootlegs, and the best at that. So I've been steadily rebuilding my collection for quite some time. Supersonic 81 is supposed to be good as well.
That is really something drake. Because something very similar happened to me a couple years back. I lost a lifetime of Stones collection. I bet everybody here can feel me on this one. What would you do if your Stones collection, the apple of your eye was no more? At first I just could not get myself to get it up again. I did not even want to ever hear a single Stonestune. I mean I didn't have a single note of Stonesmusic left; official and boots. Then a friend gave me 40 Licks and a few shows from Licks. But I never listened to them. Licks tour was in full swing and all I knew of it for the longest time was the opening song in the beginning was SFM. I was just too curious to not ask about that. Then slowly I put out feelers again. I decided to only get the good stuff. I had tons of disc that I honestly never listened to. There have been people here in the Stones community that were more than wonderful and gave me for free many many discs. That was priceless. Anyway one catalogue that IMO is indispensable is the Sister;'s.
Sister Morphine is great but I disagree about Mickboy; his Goat's Head Soup is astonishing, hiss free, just the way you dream of hearing that album, up close and razor sharp. His Satanic majesties is really good too; maybe he gets carried away with some unnecesary bonus tracks but that's all. Have to mention 'Tastes sooo Good' too; Sticky Fingers but twice as loud - the drums on CYHMK are awesome!
Yeah I agree with you hoodoo. Mickboy has done some outstanding things. I think maybe he got too carried away in the end where he was literally remastering everything.
