Stones DO love Motown, but you know what would have been cool? A show at Cobo Arena. Stones played there in '65, '66, 72', and '75. And, unlike a lot of the venues they played at in those days, it still exists.
But it's all good. Comerica will be Stones first ever outdoor show in Detroit. They were supposed to play Tiger Stadium in Sept. '97, but ended up at the Silverdome (again) in Dec.
Comerica is across the street from Ford Field, where they played in 2002. It's also walking distance from Greektown Casino! How cool is that? Downtown Detroit contains a football stadium, a baseball stadium, a hockey arena, some really beautiful old theatres (the Fox would be AWESOME for a theatre gig) and THREE gambling casinos! Even New York City doesn't have that, and probably never will!
