Advise on travelling by trainGetting thereOn Pinkpop weekend all trains from the Amsterdam/Utrecht region to Limburg Province will be direct to Heerlen: besides the usual Schiphol-Heerlen intercity service also the Amsterdam-Central to Maastricht service will go directly to Heerlen, instead of Maastricht. No change necessary at Sittard.
This means that from Utrecht there will be direct trains to Heerlen every 15 minutes. Travelling time about 2 hours.
From Heerlen to Landgraaf there will be a shuttletrain, which runs every 15 minutes as well. It will not stop at intermediate stops, which will be served by a replacing bus. Travelling time 4 minutes.
From Landgraaf station tot the festival entrance it's a 1,9 km walk, just follow the crowd. There will be a shuttlebus as well.
Those coming from Maastricht/Valkenburg (and Belgium via Maastricht) will have to change at Heerlen as well, no direct trains to Landgraaf this weekend.
From Aachen Hbf: the usual hourly service to Landgraaf, takes 26 minutes.
Back home (night after showtime, but on Sunday and Monday arrangements are roughly the same)For all Dutch destinations: change at Heerlen.
After showtime walk back to Landgraaf station (1,9 km). From Landgraaf the shuttletrain to Heerlen will run every 15 minutes until 0:33.
At Heerlen even the last trains from Landgraaf will connect to (extra) services to Utrecht, Rotterdam and Amsterdam. For all these destinations, changing at Eindhoven might be necessary (not quite clear, but you'll be fine). For Amsterdam, extra changing might be necessary depending on your route and engineering works in the Amsterdam area. Travelling times and changing times might be longer than usual, but at least you'll get back...
For Maastricht there will be extra late trains from Heerlen as well. These will not connect to Liege and Brussels at Maastricht, however.
Last service to Aachen Hbf appears to be at 22:34 from Landgraaf station. Check [
www.9292.nl] if there are any public buses from Landgraaf or Heerlen.
TrainticketsAs mentioned earlier, there will be no tickets available at Landgraaf station. Purchase your return ticket in advance.
For Dutch folks or those with a Dutch bankaccount with iDeal:
Over the internet at NS (Dutch Railways) you can buy Pinkpop return tickets from/to every dutch station at a 40% discount. It allows you to travel back on Sunday and Monday as well. Check [
www.ns.nl] and opt for 'Pinkpop retour 2014'. You can pay with iDeal only!
For regular OV-chipcard holders: checking in at Landgraaf is of course possible. This weekend you will not have to check out and in again at Heerlen, for logistic purposes.
