I saw Marcus Miller in concert last night, there were a lot of Stonesy moments. Firstly like Darryl Jones, Marcus was Miles bass player. The title track to his new album Silver Rain has a real Hot Stuff/Miss You kind of groove. The encore was Frankenstein the great Johnny Winter number, which has more than a little Stones in the guitar riff. Marcus also played numbers by Hendrix and Stevie Wonder, also both Stones favourites. This band would be an awesome warm up for the new tour, they rock like Living Color but are also Jazzy enough for Charlie and funky enough for Mick. It was an awesome show, dont miss it if you get the chance.
I saw Marcus Miller in Tivoli Utrecht. A briljant show. What a performer. Would be a great warm up for the tour! For fantastic photo's look on this website:
Saw Marcus a couple of years ago and he was slammin'. He played everything he is capable of jazz, funk, soul, rock, ...
An incredible gifted bassplayer.
I actually enjoy the albums he did with Miles. Most people don't, but it was a new step for Miles and it worked for me. His solo efforts are ok, but they sound like some homeproject.
