I'm watching the local news tonite and they said we will be having a British Invasion this summer. They said Paul Macca will be playing in Boston blah blah blah, then they said OPENING THEIR TOUR AUGUST 26TH AT FENWAY PARK IN BOSTON WILL BE THE ROLLING STONES!!!!!! ACTUALLY THE DATES ARE AUG 26 & 27. I LIVE 40 MINUTES FROM FENWAY PARK! I AM SO EXCITED! OMG, CALL 911 I'M GONNA FAINT.
It's so very lonely, you're 2,000 Light Years from home
Hi Too Tough, why do you think, that they do not play 2 shows in a row anymore ? Who said so ? Licks tour had several dates in which they playd 2 in a row, didn`t they ? Regards salar P.S. Maybe it`s just You, who can`t make 2 shows within 2 nights anymore (Smile)
Even though we think the Stones are more important than the Red Sox, the games will come first. Maybe the Stones could play between games of a double header!
Salar, several back-to-back shows in 2003 were postponed for this reason. Since the Ahoy/Vredenburg shows, no shows have been played two nights in a row. It is an insurance thing.
This is all syupposition anyway, but I bet that the Stones would prefer to play 2 shows in a row than to have to take the stage down and re-errect it for a game.
After all, it costs them money to erect / dismantle stages, not even accounting for the money wasted by having equipment / people sat around doing nothing for several days!
1994: Tour opens on August 1st. Next show is on August 3rd. 1997: Tour opens on September 23rd. Next show is on September 25th. 1999: Tour opens on January 25th. Next show is on January 27th. Mick still needs to cancel the following two shows, because of throat problems. 2002: Tour opens on September 3rd. Next show is on September 5th.
2005: Now they would open the tour with two nights in a row?? At a baseball park that has home games the same weekend?? And when they have applied permits for concerts on the 21st and 23rd of August??
I may be a rookie here (ok, ½ a year), but I may also be right. What if permission is applied for several alternative occasions? Maybe September is the start month after all.
Reading some of the posts here on this topic. One post said "They won't play one sity two days in a row. Mmmm. Well in fact that's not so farfetched that they will do just that. Considering that this is the "Thank you and goodbye" tour it's not that impossible that they will stay in town fo a couple of days and do repeated concerts. Really they did on the last one, remember, stadiums, auditoriums and club (theaters). This time around they might aim for the stadiums on places where the ticket demands is high and which city won't have that problem.
It's incredibly exciting that the Stones embark on another tour so soon after the last one!
