I know what Open G is getting at - i have always found Mick emotionally distant and a little cold. He would never lay his heart on the line like Bob or Keith - he always seems a little too cold and calculating for that. At the same time though i don't think it's a sad reflection on the group at their peak because that style has never been their forte anyway.
I don't think this topic is really about technical ability it's more about connecting with the songs in a sincere and emotionally open way. Mick's more a character player.

19TH Nervous Breakdown is pretty Dylanesque & Something Happened To Me Yesterday is probably an affectionate tribute/pisstake of Bob.

Have to agree with Deirdre re Bob's singing: I find it is usually unengaged with the emotion of the song (& Lay Lady Lay is a fine exception to this). He's never come close to the passion & warmth Mick delivers in 'Winter'.

I agree, Tseverin, there's no comparison. Mick sings with an incredible amount of emotion
