Where (what) is the aux abattoirs?

Please excuse my ignorance, but what (where) is the aux abattoirs
in Paris where most of LYL was recorded?
I saw a ticket for the shows and they also mention
Pavillion de Paris, and I've heard of that.
I assume that's a concert venue.
Was the Abattoirs a big arena like Earls Court, MSG, the LA Forum, etc...?
I did a google search, and came up with nothing.
Has anybody ever been there or saw the Stones there in '76?
I haven't been to Paris...yet.
My wife and I may go this year. We got a tax refund!
Anyroad, what was this venue?

Another name for the Pavillion de Paris?
Abattoirs (sp?) means slaughter house, I think. I don't speak French.

Erikjjf...That's what I've heard, too.
Was it some sort of in-joke?

It's possible.

Abattoir means slaughter house
It was the former slaughter house of Paris, before they moved it outside Paris.
The official name was Pavillon de Paris, if I make no mistake.

Now the area has changed quite a lot and on the same site you have la Grande Halle de la Vilette (used for exhibitions and jazz concerts) and a 6,000 capacity concert venue called Le Zenith.

Also almost on the same place : la Cité de la Musique (translate it as the music museum) where a Stones weekend took place a few years ago. Bill Wyman came for a 2 hour discussion with the fans. Atlantic City, L&G, Let's spend the night together and Performance were shown.

yes.

I think the Science exhibition centre is also on or around the same site. I went to Paris in '92 to see "At the Max" there when it was shown at "La Géode"

yes, I was there in 76. I saw only two shows. (They made 4 ) Big souvenir. It was a scorching heat summer. I was with my best friend who became fan that day. We talk with Freddy hauser who was filming the show for "antenne 2". What was funny is, that year, all french people were coming, above all, to hear "ANGIE" live!! They did that great blues angie version and very much people were confounded not to hear sound of studio version. Now, modern slaughterhouses are in RUNGIS. At the time, it was just sort of sheds. But it was relly cool seeing the Rolling Stones on all the walls of Paris "the Rolling Stones aux abattoirs with the words "thank's it's full" stuck on the bill (the R.S. running ahead). the june 5, Jagger saved the show (fascinating), the june 6 all the band was incredible. UNFORGETTABLE. SOME YEARS LATTER, I went to the geode Villette to see show of 90, twice, then to the geode DEFENSE (it doesn't exist, now) see them again twice. Essential to understand what good idea it was to realize that marvellous account. Bye .

LA FORUM, I regret, but I haven't. Never took photo at a STONE SHOW. I'm too busy not to lose one second.
