Wonder why they didn't mention Charlie being in France too?

RS.com did post this picture and said:

"March 07, 2005
Mick and Keith Back At It"

"Mick and Keith are currently in France writing new songs for the forthcoming Rolling Stones album. Stay tuned for more details as they roll in."

The key words above: "are currently in France writing new songs" (Date March 7, 2005).

Okay, this could mean that Mick and Keith are, "Still" writing songs, not in the "mixing" stage, (as rumored) or, they are just putting the finishing touches on some of the songs, and the person who posted this bit of info on RS.com doesn't know the difference.

"soon' is a relative thing on rs.com - could be weeks/months before we get an update.

I dont think rs.com is so hot on details - remember 'they' misquoted D Was & reported "Mick is singing (writing?) like a lion" after DW said Charlie was playing like one. Speaking of lion(esses) (OT) if anybody gets to see the Wild Kingdom episode (on Animal Planet) about the lioness who adopts the baby antelope (her natural prey) to the befuddlement of other animals in the 'hood (in Kenya)- it's quite touching...

They are writing songs for years now. Hope they record some of them - and please no quick throwaway sessions like Paris 2002. They NEED to play the stuff over and over to create magic. They had been playing Tumbling Dice for two years until inspiration hit them one night in France 1971 and they found the right groove. Its not just the song. Its they way it needs to be played to be really cool. Especially Jaggers stuff the last years seemed to lack this approach. Seen the film with the Stones recording SFTD? If they would not have had some patience, SFTD would have ended up as a nice acoustic folk song by Jagger....

So, old men, WORK !!!

........Which could have been very interesting I might add. The bits you hear in the Goddard movie sounds really good. But it's true what you say that a song needs patience and work.

Couldn't disagree more. Too much work on songs ruins them. That's what has happen alot over the years with the Stones. Their best stuff (everyone's) is always "off the cuff."

Seriuosly, Who can imagine the Stones working for months on a new album?
I can't believe how much time they spent on Voodoo Lounge, but that was the last time. They record for a month and thats all, they did the 4 songs on 40licks in 3 weeks, inc. mix!
That old times are in the past, sadly...
