going back to an earlier concept. i wonder if they would consider just severing a finger or a toe for each song. wouldn't have to lose a whole limb that way....and fingers and toes eventually grow back, right?

You're completely missing the point.

Can anyone give an advice regarding HOtels in San Jose and/or Oakland?
As far as I can see on the map the Oakland Airport is just accross from the Oracle Arena is that correct?
Thanks

It is 4.27 miles from the Oakland Airport to the arena. If you were to stay at one of the airport hotels you could take the hotel shuttle back to the airport and then take the airport bus ($1 last time I took it but it has been a while) to the Bart station adjacent to the arena.

If you decide to stay in Berkeley as another poster suggested be alert when you get off the BART on your way back to your hotel.

Amoeba is great. But another record store (yes, records) in the area not to miss is Downhome in El Cerrito. It can also be reached via BART.

The BART gives you easy access from the venue and across the bay to the San Francisco downtown area, with plenty of hotels in all price classes. And good news are I found a great sports bar with great draft beers right in the SF city Center, when I was there on a trip in January. I will find the name and details soon.

or you can stay in downtown Oakland, buy a handgun and some ammo for protection and it will still be less expensive than category 1) above.

San Francisco is really expensive for the more acceptable hotels, and the cheaper ones are often in the Tenderloin, which is a very dicey neighborhood. People shouldn't get the idea that San Francisco is this idyllic, safe city, because it's not. Even the really good hotels in SF won't make you immune from the numerous aggressive panhandlers and people who prey on tourists. Oakland's crime problem is mostly isolated to certain neighborhoods. If you stay at a hotel near the airport, it's a relatively quiet area of Oakland and transportation to the arena is easy. Considering the show is on a weekend, if people don't have a $500 or more to spend on a hotel, staying near the Oakland airport is a decent option.

So some of us see us in Oakland in the Pit. And thanks for the Hotel advise I booked a Hotel room at the Airport which is Close.
As we fly into SFO out of Europe only on May 4th I don't wanna drive to far. So the next day might be boring before the concert.

It would be a nice time of year to take the ferry to Alcatraz or to take a ferry from Oakland across the bay into San Francisco.

Thanks to whomever posted the news about the 85$ tickets. I got a pair for Oakland.

Another option for people flying into SFO is hotels by the San Francisco airport. Cheaper than city center San Francisco hotels, and there is also BART at San Francisco airport to take you to the Oakland arena. It would be a good option if you have an early morning Monday flight out of that airport. You can also take BART to downtown SF if you want to do some sight-seeing before the show.

If you really wanted to do this right stay where the Stones stayed in Oakland. in 1969. Or at the Miyako where they stayed in 1972
