I'm thinking that the new album could be one of the live 50th anniversary shows (along with the obligatory DVD of course).
They won't be rushed into playing dates - they will want to get the format right. I think BV's prediction of short bursts of live activity is on the money. Can't see an ABB mega tour happening this time around.

Right now is when Mick, and many of y'all, have claimed that everybody in
the band is "at the top of their game", with the Stones and their fans
raring to go. The juggernaut completely fueled up. Yet once again bogged
down in the sands of time.
Yeah and it's not like they have time on their side is it...don't want to bring bad luck onto anyone but things can go quickly in the wrong direction at any age and particularly so at theirs. Come on guys, don't play the waiting game to get more money out of it, it's not worth it.
The only decent excuse they would have is to work on new tracks, a single/EP/album, the rest is BS, including designing a stage for stadiums, the usual hired hands can do that.

Yes, a new album before any more touring. Record the new album in the first half of the year then tour during the second.

don't think they should do anything outside anymore. Keep the show indoors.

Just as with any year a Stones tour may happen.
Great observation
Great observation? Since when is something that isn't true a great observation? You are slipping, Hansie, but I still love you!

One last great album is more important at this stage of their career than more live performances.

It IS true - a Stones tour MAY happen any year. And it is the most obvious great observation ever.

They've only been relevant in terms of making huge amounts of money since 1981. 32 calendar years of live shows making big time money. Their other relevance now is how old they are. It's not what they do so much, it's that they are still doing "it". Selectively, of course.

Sorry, it's false. No chance they were going to tour for at least a couple of years after ABB.

Glad to hear that you consider them to still be relevant, in two ways.

I just want it noted that because this is a sticky, every morning I check to see if any actual dates are posted.
This is not a complaint, just an observation.

Nope. At the beginning of every year there is always a possibility that a tour may happen. ALWAYS.

Unfortunately it's not about the music. However, since U2 smashed the Stones record, it's possible they aren't as financially relevant as they used to be.

The word "may" implies a certain degree of likelihood. Would you say it "may" rain today when you are in the midst of a drought with no rain in sight? Or we all may be struck by lightning today? Or it may not rain in Seattle in 2013?

It's way beyond the music. They are the greatest joy-givers the world has ever known. And they are still delivering. Of course, one last great album for us diehards will be sweet and will seal the deal as to who the greatest rock 'n roll band of all time is! I can't wait!
