OT: ESTA for traveling to US shows after stay in Cuba in 2016

sorry for some ESTA application questions or flying to the US shows from Europe.
I know, this is not a travel forum, but I know that IORR are expert for travel issues following the Stones around the world... Anyway...

I just started to fill my ESTA application and now I hang at the new question:

"have you been after 03/01/2011 in Cuba (or Jemen, North Kroea, Iraq etc...?"

We have been in Cuba in 2017...

As a lot of IORR members have been to the Havana show: how do you deal with this question? (Last time I flew to the US show in 2019 ESTA did not ask about Cuba)

I ESTA not possible and do I have to hurry for a VISA now?

Thanks

Stoneswolf

"The USA has tightened the entry requirements for the last time in August 2019" and: "Until recently, there was no specific query in the ESTA application form about previous trips to Cuba, but this has changed since mid-July 2023" - [en.USVisaService.de] .

We have been in Cuba in 2017...

What about a new passport, free from stamps of "suspicious" countries?

our passports are "clean" as they were not stamped in Cuba...

Just found this in the FAQ website from ESTA:

"The U.S. Department of State designated Cuba as a State Sponsor of Terrorism (SST) on January 12, 2021.

With limited exceptions, a traveler who is found to have visited Cuba on or after this date is not eligible for travel under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) using an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) and must apply for a visa to travel to the United States."

Regarding the FAQ I should be save, I am just wondering why ESTA wants to know if I went to Cuba after 03/01/2011 ...

How do the Havana-show visitors deal with this?

best advice is always: do the ESTA stuff before you buy any concert tickets, flights etc.

you'll never find out why ESTA wants to know what ESTA wants to know. You can't change it anyway and there's no use in discussion what they do or don't do

and – most important – don't lie to ESTA. Otherwise you might get banned from entering the US for the rest of your life.

I was in Cuba in 2016 and stated this truthfully in my current ESTA application.
There was some interim information that my application needed to be examined more closely, but the travel authorization came two days after I submitted the application.
