Everybody Stares is pretty good

Beyond The Lighted Stage is fascinating and really well done as well...

It's not rock per se, but I really loved the "Respect Yourself: Stax" documentary.

"Tantrums and Tiaras" has been in my Netflix queue for a while, but I'm afraid it will make me hate Elton's music (I already know he's a bit of a prick)

The Metallica doc (was it "Some kind of Monster"?)was solid and "the Story of Anvil" really great, even if youre not very fond of their music.

I have the soundtrack on LP of This Is Elvis, but I never seen the movie. Guess I'll have to order that DVD now, since it's getting praises from you two

Hedwig & the Angry Inch
best rock film, funny and some great 70's glam rock

"Flashbacks of a Fool" w/ Daniel Craig is not a rock docu, but has one of the best scenes ever featuring a rocksong; "If there is Something" by Roxy Music.

"The Gift" Jane's Addiction

Monterey Pop and Festival Express

forgot: 24 Hour Party People

The Beatles Anthology is phenomenal! You need a big chunk of time to get through it.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Running Down a Dream. Fantastic! I recommend the four DVD Director's cut.

Although told from their perspective, it contains so many hours of clips, interviews and commentaries that I agree it is 'phenomenal.' Though I do have a soft spot for the shorter Compleat Beatles.

Got to agree, that for a nice, concise (< 2 hour) summary, the Compleat Beatles is incredibly well done. For a 1982 release, it's amazing how it manages to be touchingly nostalgic and also critcally "distant." For 1982. It's just nicely done, and those who produced it should get some kudos, as it stands up well even now. George Martin's comments, though collected later in various interviews that go into more depth, perhaps, are nonetheless great even at this relatively early juncture.
