Very sad news. I'm sure there's lots of Stones fans of a certain vintage that grew up listening to Purple. I for one sure did. In Rock and Machine Head were HUGE albums back in the day and behind that Purple sound was Jon Lord's wild Hammond. RIP Jon.

This is really aweful. I thought he was back in good health. He was my favorite keyboard/piano player. Also I thought there was strong rumour he was going to do something with Deep Purple. A lot of music fans will be upset at his loss. I hope he enjoyed his life well and is having an even better time on the other side. R.I.P. Jon Lord.

Very sad. I`m glad I could see Deep Purple Mark II on several tours. Great great concerts with big egos and great musicianship. RIP

RIP Jon! His keyboard were a major part of Purple's sound and differentiated them from peers like Zeppelin and Sabbath. Saw the reformed Mark 2 version in 85 on their Perfect Strangers tour in Vancouver. The stage had a stonehenge theme which was kind of Spinal Tappish and when he played his keyboards, it was on a platform where it rocked back and forth.

The House of Blue Light tour was my one and only experience at a DP concert (late 80's) and I must say it was in my top 5 concerts of all time.
