Nico's is the best port of call we have, but maybe his instrumentation mistakes come from felix? Or vice versa? grinning smiley

But for the rest, very disappointed.

Complete recording sessions ??? The definitive book ??? That's a joke.

Who can claim to publish a complete listing of the RS in studio ? Nobody !

...

You prefer to check in 50 books , read 2000 pages on 10 boards to see that indeed there's a mistake on page xxx winking smiley Me nope, I'm satisfied with that book ! And by the way it's not Martin who claim that it's the definitive book but me smiling bouncing smiley even If I agreed there will never be a definitive book, let's say that this one has a mention.

My copy arrived today, nice and big, well laid out, nice pics.

Unfortunatley, atleast with regards to the 1960's recordings, I'm finding quite a few errors with regards to instrument identification and who plays those instruments.

It's a good book, but, due to the above, just misses being a great one imo.

wonderful book.

I´m not the one to judge whether every single information or detail is correct...
( as far as I know Fingerprint File hasn´t been played live 1976...)
...but if you can live with some slight mistakes or errors...

get it.

Scored mine from amazon.co.uk in todays's mail down here in Perth.

At first glance. I find it a great book, very easy layout, heaps of data AND perhaps interpretation based on faded or scarred memory (I CAN'T remember what I did in the 60's for instance!) - but nevertheless, for me, a marvellous resource to indulge in - not necessarily to RELY on ....

A lot bigger in size than I thought it would be - it's certainly NOT a paperback! Well done.

No. Its a sessionography - with commentary on the songs/sessions.

Got mine at the weekend. havent had much time to go through it in detail, but looks a fine (and undoubtedly painstaking) piece of work.

Think I'll need to get this as I have the first two. Bought the first one in 1990 and sent me a on a scary boot search that left me badly in the red...it was fascinating to read about all these unreleased songs that lurked under the surface and then go find them, and buy boots from shady characters...pretty exciting and costly ! I think I got the Atlantic CDs at the time as well as the Dirty Work sessions, Keith's Toronto sessions, etc...still have them all.

Since 1990 the internet has made a lot of the info available of course and I remember being a bit disappointed in the second edition, don't think I ever really read it much.

I noticed in the PDF file on his site that a lot of unknown stuff had been added for the 1982 sessions so I presume it's stuff that he hasn't heard as the other tracks have timing, like when Nico writes (unverified).

Chris Kimsey must have a lot of inside info but maybe he's not allowed to spill the beans too much if at all?

Lovely book. I have all 3 of Martin;'s books, and would always support someone like him. No, I don't think his first two were that "great' as far as information goes, but it's the heart that counts. And with this new one he hit the bulls-eye anyway...

YOu know life is too complicated when you buy a book 10 years ago and you see a 'new' thread that prompts you to check your bookshelf to be sure, to find a copy of a book you bought but never cracked the cover.

Something to look forward to tonight!
