Tis just same as 1969 US tour version, open G with capo at 4th fret. Taylor in standard tuning.

NO, he plays around the 7th/9th frets, not around the 4th/6th frets !
That's why I think it's not open G capoed 4th !

That's why I think it's not open G capoed 4th !
He positions his hand over the 9th fret while he hits the open B chord (open G capo at 4). He plays it like this ever since '69. Live at Hyde Park, with the short necked ES-330 it is even more obvious.

No. His hand is above the 8th fret, but he doesn't fret the strings when he hits the B chord. His hand doesn't need to be at the 4th position -the capo is there.

Well.. it actually has the same buzz saw sound as open g capo (with the slight bend of the D that I can never do) at the 4th so you're probably right.

Yes, that's where he plays when playing JJF using open G and capo at 4th fret.

He doesn't bar the 7th fret, his hand opens up for the open B chord when playing the chrous at approx 2 minutes 20, but most of all the music and notes heard in tandem with the footage tells us he's using open G with a capo at 4th fret.
The blurry footage is merely making it hard to see the capo. In rehearsal photos for Saville Theatre his les paul custom only has 5 strings and he's shown using a smaller/thinner capo than what he used at Hyde Park, for example.

Open G, capo on 4th, played in the open G style he started with in 1969. When did he change the riff was it in 1978 or even 1975? You can hear he changed the riff by 1981. I think the first live version of the riff in open G was the best, it's very tight and focused. 1972 was the best version of the song of course.
