Tuning in right now hoping to catch Bonnie, but....Tanya Tucker?
I like her, but thought she was supposed to play earlier? Where's Bonnie?

EDIT: Was watching live on youtube link posted above, yet on AXS tv there's a different country gal performing...not sure who it is? Maybe time delayed on AXS?
Still no Bonnie in sight...

EDIT#2: Evidently neither of the above are being streamed live (thought it was the last couple years?),
but according to a youtube comment it is live on Sirius...whatever...hoping to see Neils set one way or the other!

Weird...started watching but it was pretty disjointed. Not matching up with the timestamps.

Supposedly Bonnie Raitt licensing issue - no streaming.
Looks live now on youtube, but Dave Matthews....sounds horrible..... and then Mellencamp...will tune back in later.

He is amazing. I'm not the biggest Dave Matthews fan, but my girlfriend is and took me to see the full DMB back in July...really a great show, and yeah, Tim Reynolds is a monster on guitar.

Caught a bit of Bonnie on AXS tv (time delayed), but now back to youtube w/John Mellencamp live..."Jack and Dianne" with most in attendance singing along as if around a campfire.
Never was a big fan of his, but he has many memorable tunes. Need some marshmallows to roast on the fire.

The trick is to only listen once a year when he plays Farm Aid.smiling smiley
A small price to pay when Neil Young is about to play.

On another note, someone commented on youtube that Dylan was spotted backstage...intriguing if true....

I was talkin' to the preacher, said God was on my side
Then I ran into the hangman, he said it's time to die...

Wow, this Monsanto song is pretty ham-fisted. Good message, but silly execution.

Mama, Don’t Let Your Babies Grow up to Be Cowboys sounds horrible. Willie’s guitar is way out of tune and it seems the band cannot follow his lead. He’s all over the place.

I noticed that. I was dozing off during Willie's set, but as you said, he was all over the place, and the rest of the band was scrambling to keep it on track.

The stream got pulled off YouTube immediately (unlike last year)...did anyone watch the entire thing? Was Willie as out of it as it appeared?

Seems he was short of breath at times unable to complete whole lines from the songs he was playing, but the multiple backup singers filled in most of the gaps.
Otherwise, it was a great set and he was still able to plonk out a few hints of his signature Willie licks on his battered guitar "Trigger", though even they were drastically abbreviated.
At 86yrs. old, he's still going.....thumbs up

Good to know...it's amazing he can still pull off what he does.

Missed Willie's set, but the reviews were favorable.

Brian Bruner

Thom Duffy in Billboard:

At age 86, Nelson is a tireless, musical wonder, and he showed no signs of the breathing difficulties that led him to cancel some tour dates in early summer. At midnight, he was leading a finale of “Will The Circle Be Unbroken,” “I’ll Fly Away” and “I Saw the Light” after a long, rich day of performances by his fellow Farm Aid board members -- Neil Young, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews -- as well as Bonnie Raitt, Luke Combs, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, Margo Price, Jamey Johnson, Tanya Tucker, Jamestown Revival, Yola, Particle Kid and Ian Mellencamp.

Piet Levy in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

At past Farm Aid concerts, Willie Nelson used to pop up for lots of sets. But Saturday, the 86-year-old Nelson, who had to cancel some shows last month for health reasons, saved his lone appearance for the end.

Nelson was in good form, his set starting as it often does, with solid renditions of “Whiskey River” and “Still Is Still Moving to Me,” followed later by a festive one-two punch of “It’s All Going to Pot” and “Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die.”

Nelson really lit up trading blues licks on his battered acoustic guitar Trigger with his electric-guitar-strumming son Lukas. And 12 hours of music came to a spirited end with several stars of the day — Neil Young, Jamey Johnson, Randy Houser, Nathaniel Rateliff, and Margo Price (and her baby) — singing “I’ll Fly Away” together, and Nelson giving his cowboy hat a heck of a toss into the crowd.
