Damn, he's the David Bowie movie director right? Name is escaping me at the moment. The one on the covers of Station To Station and Low. Great director. Very sad.

A great Director.
Of all the main participants in the film 'Performance' he was the one person whose film career went from strength to strength.
Lets hope the TV companies have it in them to show a selection of his films as a tribute, sometime soon.

He also did Bad Timing, with Art Garfunkel and Theresa Russell.

He managed to get some serious acting from rock stars, i.e Jagger, Bowie, and Garfunkel.

He also did Walkabout, with Jenny Aggitur in an early role.

I recall seeing "Insignificance" with Tony Curtis. It had something to do with Einstein and Marilyn Monroe, too (Theresa Russell as Marilyn). His movies had good visuals, but the plots are hard to remember.

Plots for both Performance and Don't Look Now are easy to follow.

Walkabout is a bit non-linear, though.

great visual director. i'm not a huge fan of "Performance" (except Memo from Turner) but "Man Who Fell to Earth" is a masterpiece, IMHO. Walkabout was interesting, too. Need to see "Don't Look Now".

For some unknown reason I keep wishing Peter Gabriel scored Walkabout, but then it must be from seeing Rabbit Proof Fence.
