the show was prepared to be release if you watch the Chris Jagger presentation made in 90's
you can use this version for audio;
the VGP one is good enough too

It had nothing to do with the Who, but with the unhappy appearance of Brian Jones and the fact that he wouldn't be in the group. The vibes were lousy.

Bollocks.

Not a very intelligent comment.

You can download it here
[www.ina.fr]

There are plenty of ripoff programs available on the 'net to download streaming videos like this one.

This program is not a ripoff: [nirsoft.net]. It's free and doesn't require any installation. Stream the video until it's fully downloaded (so you can seek to the end) then run VideoCacheView. Look for a file with a weird name ending in .mp4. That's the video. Save it; rename if you like.

You'll have "Memo from Turner" from Performance followed by the complete Marquee concert.

Refering to the 8-song Live A The Marquee TV Special 1971

Recently I've been trying to find the best available audio-copy of the show. Most sources I've found have been fairly good mono or at best a kind of splashy narrow stereo? but well short of official-release quality. Does anyone know of a good quality audio source?

The BBC issued a (rare?) official video, did it contain a good quality soundtrack? does anyone have info on that?

The show was never shown on British TV, let alone released as an official video.

Could this be one of the next 5 downloads maybe?

More likely the bonus DVD for a Super Deluxe Sticky Fingers?

Just a thought.

Great post Doxa (from Dec. 14 and its followups). I do disagree with you on one point:

>It has the nowadays the reputation as Godard's "most difficult film".

Trust me, SFTD is a cakewalk compared to some of Godard's later work!

I wonder if Marianne's prior involvement w/Godard (she appeared in his movie MADE IN USA, singing "As Tears Go By") had anything to do with SFTD.

Godard revisited the concept of capturing musicians in the recording process in the 1987 film SOIGNE TA DROIT! (KEEP YOUR RIGHT UP).

BTW I haven't seen it yet but his latest movie FILM SOCIALISME features Patti Smith & Lenny Kaye.

Maybe not, but compared to yours, its pretty much Einstein-esque.

Looks like that recording is here, I've seen of course, the posts here where people sell CDs, I lost my old seller, these people certainly have a selection. I know this is "old hat" to a lot of people here but some of these I had not seen before. My old seller had music by everyone and I mean everyone but this looks good.

Was the Roundhouse farewell show from 71 filmed?

The French One Plus One has all the footage on the DVD. It's really cool if you skip the non Stones stuff. It's funny Brian does seem to be on the side a bit, but he doesn't seem ill or unwilling to work. RnR Circus has some good playing by Brian that was mixed out, but though he may not have wanted to be in Stones anymore he does an OK job. I guess just seeing him in the pre mid 1967 stuff is the only way you can tell he was in a decline at least to me.

Oh I like the 1971 show by the way. I would rather have a rough Keith who can sing well and play wildly then what we have had the last 30 odd years. Satisfaction is the best post Jones version I ever heard on there.
